Cripes, who gives a flip? It's just a helmet. I'm more concerned about winning the game than making a fashion statement.

It's a decoy.
Obviously you are missing my point.Sorry we got carried away. Everyone knows how important our job as fans is to stay focused on the game.
My only hope is that you were quick enough to catch us before we got too carried away and cost us the game tomorrow.
Thank you for putting us back on track. That was close.

Calm your tits.Good grief. For the last time. Helmets we not designed to prevent concussions. Biggest myth in football.
If they painted the helmets cat puke orange you would think it was awesome lol

Sure, having an alternate uniform is kinda nice, but the way some people are reacting ("lame", "please do not let this be the helmet", etc.) is a bit over the top for a freaking football helmet. Some of you act like it is major catastrophe if the pictured helmet is the one used.
Personally, when the team comes out on the field I'll take a look at the new uniform for about 4 seconds, and then won't give it another thought.
I was thinking those are pretty sweet and really the only thing I'd have changed would have been to switch the tigerhawk and the state outline ANF decal to the side.As long as it has a tiger hawk, it's cool.![]()
Why can I only like a post once? +1+1+1+1+1+1 to you, sir. Perfect.Watching Saturday's game with 83Hawk

Zero Fun Sir!![]()
It would be so Iowa, though.Considering how much they've hyped these alternate uniforms, it wouldn't make much sense to have pretty much the same helmet (at least if you ask me).
There's no way this is the helmet design for the game. It's a fake to get everyone worked up.
I can 100% without question tell you that the snapchat photo in this thread is INDEED the helmet Iowa will be wearing on Saturday. This isn't a great picture and helmet isn't polished. They look much better in the professional photos and will look really great under the lights.
I've seen the jerseys as well... very basic. No stripes anywhere. We are talking black pants with Hawkeye logo, black jerseys with yellow numbers, yellow nike logo and yellow Big 10 logo, yellow gloves, blacks socks and black shoes.
Personally, I really like the simple look of the jerseys and pants. Helmet is two over sized Hawkeyes with large ANF in the back.
PS I would be all for these helmets being the new helmets going forward. Love the bigger Hawkeyes and the state outline with ANF is bada$$. I also like the elimination of the helmet stripe.
Ugg. Also, if they were wanting to keep the uniforms under wraps until tomorrow at 4:30......why would they set a helmet on a bench and let Marc M. walk in, take a picture and send it out to social media......makes no sense. Not originally no, but how often have you seen helmet designs change to do just that. Are they successful, not necessarily but todays helmets are being designed to prevent concussions.
Link?
jk, sort of

Why, just why? I was so hyped up for something new, something cool. You see all of these teams busting out these beautiful alternate uniforms with black or chrome helmets. I was hoping this was the time for Iowa to do it, under the national spotlight.
The University makes how much on Iowa Football? This weekend is going to bring in 20M alone! Whose job is it exactly to decide on the design for these helmets?
We had one chance to do something different, to look 'cool' under national spotlight, in a Blackout Night Game at home, and we seriously dropped the ball.
Sincerely,
Disappointed Hawks fan.
Here is what I hope.....I hope we come out to warm up in these helmets....then come out of the tunnel in some dope azz helmets none of us have seen. Why, just why? Yep, the Hawks will probably drop in the playoff poll next week because the uniforms "don't pass the eye test." Some body needs to be fired over this! Why, just why? Gotcha....I'm still calling this a "smoke screen". The program has gone to great lengths to keep this under wraps for how long? They announce that people won't see them until 4:30.......then they are careless enough to present an opportunity for someone to take a pic and blast social media with it.....and the player or equipment staff member who knows questions will be asked if leaked sends it out on snap chat? Smells to me like somebody saying, "Watch this....I'm gonna send this out and see what reaction it gets...." We were told that they debated on the helmet beyond when the uniforms were decided. I'm saying this was an option that wasn't the final choice.Marc Morehouse didn't take the picture. The photo was originally placed on Twitter by someone else who put "@marcmorehouse" in the Tweet. Marc simply re-tweeted the photo.
Lol.
10-0 in diapers for all I care. Some people are weirdos about clothing.
1. Why don't you wait until you actually see the entire uniform/helmet before going off the deep end?Showcase Blackout game with over 40 recruits in the house and this is the best helmet they could come up with? I'm still holding out hope that this is a hoax, because this design is embarrassingly bad.
1. Why don't you wait until you actually see the entire uniform/helmet before going off the deep end?
2. I seriously doubt these 40 recruits are going to base their decision on whether to attend Iowa on the helmet design.
3. Want to impress the recruits? WIN THE GAME IN A DOMINANT FASHION!
4. 5 minutes after people see the new uniform, the vast majority won't give it another thought.
5. It wouldn't matter WHAT uniform/helmet design is used, there will be people that complain about it.

1. Why don't you wait until you actually see the entire uniform/helmet before going off the deep end? From what I've seen, the rest of the uniform looks good. The teaser video for that gave a pretty good idea of what those will look like.
2. I seriously doubt these 40 recruits are going to base their decision on whether to attend Iowa on the helmet design. Branding is a very important aspect in recruiting.
3. Want to impress the recruits? WIN THE GAME IN A DOMINANT FASHION! Do both.
4. 5 minutes after people see the new uniform, the vast majority won't give it another thought.
5. It wouldn't matter WHAT uniform/helmet design is used, there will be people that complain about it. The majority of people dislike this. A handful of dislikes is different than a huge portion.
Some will never get it. These uniforms while interesting to fans is NOT the intended or important audience. It is RECRUITS! You watch some of the recent videos put out on player reactions...reactions from 18-22 year old men, let alone 16-18 year old recruits. The players go nuts over some of these uniforms. It makes them feel "cool", "different", "special". It's FUN. You can call it silly all you want.....doesn't matter.....Would you agree that winning while looking good is better than winning without looking good?
I really don't understand your argument.

What is FACT is that MANY things contribute to a brand. A brand is a FEELING and a PERCEPTION people have of you. What are MANY people's perception of Iowa......BORING! What are many many teams doing to generate buzz about their team....alternate uniforms. Some are ugly, some are cool. What matters is that they are totally different.
No they don't affect the outcome of the game. No they don't make you play better. HOWEVER, they do contribute to how people view the Iowa brand.....like it or not. We are HOT right now. All over the national media. Somewhere some recruits are hearing about us more and may be thinking...what is going on with this Iowa team? Kids not from this area or region. They don't know what they don't know....they are IMPRESSIONABLE young people. Rolling out a totally different and flashy alternate uniform now is a marketing person's DREAM. The timing couldn't be better. If the uniforms circulated are accurate then many of these impressionable young recruit's reactions to them will frankly be, "Those uniforms are totally Iowa........BORING". You can hate that all you want. I know some of you love and embrace what they stand for...different but simple. You love they didn't touch your glorious logo you can't part with for even one game, even though teams with MUCH more tradition that us seem to have no problem losing their identify by rolling out totally different uniforms and even different color schemes for a game or two.
Enough with the debate. It is FACT that it matters to players and recruits. Otherwise if would have died along time ago instead of pick up momentum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm not saying anyone should like one design over another or that we all will like the same thing. I'm simply saying that from a business perspective (and college football is big business), we had a golden opportunity to add a little flame and excitement to the Iowa BRAND.....I hope we went for it....
If you're a forgiving Oklahoma State fan....then yeah, sure. For those people who say they don't care and just win. Why not win and look good in the process? You see Oklahoma State's helmets last week? Beautiful.
