So.... bball starts in 3.5 to 4 weeks, right?

Thank Goodness! For more than the obvious reason of excitement of seeing what the team can do this season.

*side eyes the 0-2 fball team*

The main reason I quit the Hawkeye Lounge is that 97% of the conversation on it is about Iowa football and not much about the basketball team. Now that Iowa is 0 for 2 the negativity of the players and coaches will be through the roof as it should be. Pay the man big bucks for being slightly above average, it's the Iowa way.....the end of November is still too far away!

I've always considered myself bball-first, but especially now that the expectations for this coming season are sky high; as well as the fball team looking like an (at best) 2-7 or 3-6 team by the middle/end of December.

Just wait until the basketball team loses. All the while the football team is 1-7 on the season. Chaos

The difference between football and basketball is to via for a National Champion in football, 1 loss and your probably out. In basketball even if a team looses multiple games they can still reach the brass ring. In football one game a week after a loss, seems like an eternity, in basketball multiple games a week, a team can shake off an unforeseen loss from pour shooting, foul problems, referee mistakes, or just an opponents hot night and still come back the next game and erase the memory of a pour performance the game before.
As good as Iowa basketball team appears to be, I doubt they will go undefeated and may lose as many as 3 or 4 games before the end of the season. We shall see.
Playing this season and starting the season 2 months late in a pandemic year was a poor decision putting the players, coaches, referees, and other staff member at risk. JMHO.....

I need hoops to start soon. I'm a Packers fan and my football world has been collapsing lately. Hawks!

Hoops team is going to have some losses this year as the schedule is stacked. If they reach 20 wins tho I’d guess 2-3 seed.
I like your optimism and I'm not being sarcastic. I don't like all this attention the team is getting. I prefer when they are a dark horse.

Here’s why I don’t see that.. so many of these guys get their juice from crowds. I would say at this point we won’t have crowds. But we do have a guy who is a bully regardless of who is watching. Well let everyone else play at 80% while Garza steals their lunch at 100%.

And all the key players on this team are veterans with at least a couple of full seasons under the belt. They'll show the way for PMac and the young pups, and shouldn't be distracted by the outside noise or lack of.......

While I'm happy to have the entertainment that football provides, I didn't have more than .500 expectations for them. The poor performance so far is not that surprising.
B-ball is another story entirely. I'm not buying the top 5 preseason hype, but very much looking forward to seeing them on the court. Really hoping the season isn't completely derailed. For once, talk of a B1G regular season title has some merit.
