He does things no one on the current roster can do.
JoeT looks a lot better driving to basket then Clemmons. It never was big part of Clemmons game to dribble drive and finish or pass.

His offense will be fine. He's needed for everything else, and those things will be great.
He is quicker than Sap from what I am seeing. Of course Mike was quicker than Sap as well. The team needs a guy just like this, he doesn’t have to put up big offensive numbers.
I agree. And the thing is, let's say Joe T's freshman year he gives Iowa something similar to what Sapp did in his first year—man I would take that. Freshman year Sapp on this year's team would have been a very, very nice compliment to Jordan. I have a feeling (as you do as well) Joe T will be even better compliment to this roster given I think he'll get into the teeth of the D, with more options, than Sapp.

This is the type of player Iowa needs. Someone who can get in the lane to help the bigs and our shooters.
If he's able to beat HM D1 PGs off the bounce, I don't care if he ever shoots a jump shot. Play D, run the offense and take it to the rack effectively is good enough for me. Iowa doesn't need more shooters, they need more guys that can create off the bounce.
Being ambidextrous will be an advantage around the hoop if he can finish with either hands. Would love to get a guy like that. Distribute, finish drives at the hoop and play lock down defense.
He needs the weight room ALOT less than many of the current players. Hate to single anyone out but we have a pg who hasn’t found it for 3 years.

We needed the mens equivalent of Tania Davis...and from the looks of it, we may have found him. Time will tell...but a ball-handling PG maestro who can penetrate, disrupt defensive flow, and distribute was THE big thing this team lacked the past couple of years. If he tosses in 6-8 points a game to boot...then we may really be onto something!
Looks good, can he kick? Seriously though he looks like what the hawks need. Already pumped for next season.
I make no moral judgments, as long as the guy can play ball, I want him on our team.
Man I hope you are right. If he could be a big contributor next year, this could be a dangerous team with some of the sharp shooters we have.

Possibly starting next year? We would be quite small at the guard position. I predict about 15 minutes per game off bench.
Why are we comparing this kid to sapp? Is it because he is black and a guard?
He looks nothing like sapp haha. IMO from his tape he is quicker, uses the ball fake nicely, better defender, and can break down a defense. Sapp was average at all of those and had no where close to a crossover Joe T has

Just saw that Virginia has a freshman starting at PG who is 5'9" so maybe not an issue for Joe?
Let him take Connor’s minutes and let Pensl take Baer’s minutes. Keep the rotation small

I would have loved to see defensive highlights. From what has been talked about he’s a stopper on D and that’s what’s needed badly. If anyone has seen him play AAU talent when D was being played (rare I know) how did he fare? D is tougher to judge especially against lesser competition.
If we can get 8 minutes of solid D, some penetration during that time, and he values the ball I’ll be ecstatic.
