So just another tidbit in SS payments…

my brother sent me this.
I want a damn refund!

So are tens of millions of people over 100 years old receiving benefits?

No.

Part of the confusion comes from Social Security’s software system based on the COBOL programming language, which has a lack of date type. This means that some entries with missing or incomplete birthdates will default to a reference point of more than 150 years ago. The news organization WIRED first reported on the use of COBOL programming language at the Social Security Administration.

Additionally, a series of reports from the Social Security Administration’s inspector general in March 2023 and July 2024 state that the agency has not established a new system to properly annotate death information in its database, which included roughly 18.9 million Social Security numbers of people born in 1920 or earlier but were not marked as deceased. This does not mean, however, that these individuals were receiving benefits.

The agency decided not to update the database because of the cost to do so, which would run upward of $9 million.

A July 2023 Social Security OIG report states that “almost none of the numberholders discussed in the report currently receive SSA payments.” And, as of September 2015, the agency automatically stops payments to people who are older than 115 years old.

I don’t care who’s in office but if this sh!t is going on we should all be demanding refunds.
Dude, unfortunately a good chunk of MAGA twitter has gone crazy. I would know because I've been hanging out there for a few weeks now. They just want your clicks so they run crap like this. Take little at face value.

I believe those numbers originated as people in the database with flagged records as deceased. But there is no evidence they're all getting paid.

Imagine if this was true and bitching about the way that information was found.
I liken it to coffee needing warning labels on cups saying contents is hot.
They should know it’s hot, but nothing tells them that it is.
But it's not true and millions of Americans believe it is due to the President and others spreading fake news.

I doubt that many, if any are actually getting paid, but I am very curious to find out how many of them voted.
Oh, it happens:

THE VILLAGES, Fla. (AP) — A man has been charged with forgery and fraud after authorities say he cast a ballot in Florida for his deceased father in the 2020 election, though the suspect says the charges were motivated by a local, internal GOP political rivalry between former President Donald Trump advocates and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis supporters.
Elections officials in Sumter County did not count the ballot because it was postmarked four days after the father died in mid-October 2020, according to a criminal complaint brought by William Keen, the Sumter County elections supervisor. An examination of the father’s ballot showed the signature on it resembled that of his son’s and not any of the father’s previous ballot signatures, the complaint said.
Robert Rivernider was arrested and charged last week with felony forgery of a public record and fraud, according to court documents. He has since been released from custody.

That's an example of fraud being caught. As it should be and is when it infrequently happens. It's not an example of a dead person voting.

Fail.

well I’m more open to believe this could actually be happening the more they dig into government waste…
Again I’m not getting into politics , but as a taxpayer if these mutherfvckrs have actually been ripping us off this bad then I’m fvcking pissed.

Seriously here is the thing, When you see Trump say something or Musk tweet something don’t automatically take it at face value. Wait for actual reviews of what fraud and or waste actually transpired before becoming outraged. It has been proven numerous times that they are being disingenuous and then “oops, We made a mistake”.

Why the F are they still using COBOL?

Last year my wife got 2 large bonuses, after the 2nd they quit taking SS out of her pay checks because she maxed out on how much you can pay in with in one year. I didn't know that was a thing. Carry on tin foil people. CSB/

Oh, so you are special needs. The bold text is confirmation.
I thought you didn't vote and ignore politics as a Jehovas Witness??

If you don't vote, you can't complain. :)
I suppose that’s fair enough
I am upset getting ripped off . Hard enough to make ends meet without government giving away free stuff.
