I heard before the season from someone back in Iowa, that I trust, this is Fran’s final season.
His exit can't come soon enough. No defense, no rebounding, can't shoot free throws, no guards. Rinse and repeat

Why? Because there are a lot of people terrified of a coaching change. They are 100% convinced Fran is the best coach Iowa could ever hope to have, and that when he is gone the program is guaranteed to be Lickliter bad.

Sorry but I want us to lose by 40. I love the Hawks but changes need to be made. A few blowouts by average teams would help. We don’t have the coaching staff. They suck….meaning the coaches.

Poor defensive team (as usual) combined with bad rebounding equals a recipe for disaster. When when they cause a miss give up too many off. Rebounds. Don’t know how Fran thought he was good coming into the year with dembele as your starting 4 and brauns your backup to freeman.
Fran grooves on coaching his kids and running the team to maximize their role. I imagine it would be hard for him to not coach Jack.
I think the Fix is in for FRan to take over at Butler, or else another Midmajor and then transfer in Jack to play for him. FRan will have to take a pay cut. I think he's probably negotiating some partial buyout, so Iowa pays him while he coaches somewhere else.
Fran has so many fans that just love being 0.500 in B1G. I don't know how you can look back at the Garza/Keegan years and not think Fran blew his one chance of making a run in NCAA tourney.

Who? I know of no one that feels that way. There are few that may fear that, because Iowa basketball, but I sure don't see people Fran is the best coach Iowa could get.
I remember playing pick up ball games where if your guy scored on you or got an offensive rebound, you got subbed out. Fran needs to have scrimmages like that and emphasize defense & rebounding.
Are you kidding? Whenever there are calls to fire Fran there are frequently posts saying “Who is Iowa gonna get that would do better”, “It is more likely the next coach will do worse”, “Be careful what you wish for” etc etc etc.
Yes, I am exaggerating to make a point. But you know darn well there are fans terrified of a coaching change because of Lickliter, and fans that think it is likely the next coach will do worse.
However…..those posters are becoming fewer and fewer.
He needs to drive south to Indiana tonight and never come back to Iowa.
We’re getting further and further behind ISU in recruiting and postseason success. The fact that there’s such little urgency to close the gap is concerning. We’ve all but resigned ourselves to duking it out with Drake and UNI for the honor of being second-best in the state.
I thought that also at one time, but looking at Fran's and Thad's age, Fran is in his mid 60's and Thad is in his mid 50's, unless Matta has medical issues that requires him to leave after this year, why would Butler replace Thad1? Doesn't make sense.....
