South Dakota St QB Mark Gronowski visiting Iowa today, Jan 3. He won TWO Nattys, went 49-6 & threw for 10,330 yds & 93 TDs

Agreed, yeah he's not perfect nor the NIL but w/out Brad we'd be in a very dangerous situation, hell, I shudder to think what if anything we'd even have re: NIL w/out him and his work. I don't get the hate, maybe it's jealously, dude is an alum, huge fan, student athlete and I'm sure has donated six figures of his own plus countless hours..don't get the hate man..
The complainers are basically guys who never do anything themselves, but sit on the sideline criticizing.

With every passing day my confidence that he’s coming to Iowa drops about 5-10%
Well, since we were aware of his interest in Iowa, that should put you around an 80% confidence level.

I will reiterate. All we know is that he visited Iowa recently. All the anxiety has been manifested by us.

Something interesting I saw on X was a Swarm Collective Tax filing that listed 2.5 million in revenue, not sure if that was FY last year or exact date but an interesting data point...then we talk about OSU and $20 million which is insane.

Looks like a good chunk of fans answered the bell last night and donated based on comments...although, the Swarm only has 3,000 paying members which is truthfully very pitiful given you have 70k in Kinnick every Sat + just the normal fans nationwide. We don't like any of this but it's table stakes now.

You make huge gains in fundraising when You get the 1 time small donations by a large number of People , People bitch and moan but if You just go over and 1 time donate $100 once or twice a Year and mark it for the sport of choice( Football) that is when a collective really stayed juiced. Donate to football instead of 1 trip to the pub for 2 People once or twice a Year is all it takes

Iowa needs to do the Salvation army type fundraising at games where People can just slip a 20 into the collection at various points around the Stadium that is earmarked for the Football NIL , Same in Carver ect . NIL funds would explode

Apparently they're supposed to ask in Kinnick if you want to round up for the Swarm. I haven't been to the Kinnick concession stands this year but the couple times I've been to Carver, they just asked for a tip, not to round up

I’ve long thought this is the way. Particularly at football game with 20k fans having libations in them. An average donation of $10 per inebriated fan would be $200k per game or $1.4M a year. That might be a conservative number as well.

And/or just add to the ticket fee, like a swipe fee or transaction fee we see in many other areas of society today!

Yep. Iowa has roughly 50k season ticket holders. If every single one of those holders added a hundred bucks for SWARM to the already large amount they’re giving to the U of I’s athletics department, five million is raised. Just like that. It’s simply not happened. At all.

This. Let’s keep padding the school’s already deep pockets by purchasing insanely expensive beer in Kinnick though. SWARM? What’s that again?

And for many reasons, including awareness, understanding, logistics, not wanting to donate more or have a say in the players and/or performance etc.

Why not use the seat extortion fee for the Swarm instead?

The University will need the money for revenue sharing

Not all fans are interested in giving to the SWARM, some use a cost benefit analysis.

Yep it's on the 501c3 website where you can search every 501c3 charity nation wide.

Brad took $0 from about $2.5 mil in donations

Blum took a $130k salary from $1.6 mil in donations

If Brad took $0 from Swarm Collective then who was earning the $257,000 in salary paid per your link?

And why should they? I don't blame anyone for not "donating" to something as trivial as sports.
What about the current players? Do any of them contribute to the Swarm? I mean, many (most?) of them will soon be earning more money than many fans. Who has a greater stake in the team's success than the guys already there?

Is that an insane suggestion? Maybe, maybe not. (Is it even allowed?)

But I can tell you that I used to work for a non-profit that relied heavily on fundraising. We used to ask employees to chip in a portion of their paycheck, usually something like $10 or $20 monthly... not much. About 25% of employees participated. We raised a little over $10K annually with this program. Not necessarily enough to move the needle, but it helped, and it was a great pitch to use when attracting other donors.

So I don't think it's insane for current players to consider supporting the Swarm.

(Either way, it would be a great PR move for the team for the players to pool some of their NIL money to support a cause of some kind, whether its the Swarm, the Children's Hospital, or something else.)
