Stanley beat THE Ohio State University as a TR SO

This really chaps your ass doesn’t it, you little Debbie fan? Stay on your own board if this rattles you so. Little red is no longer a blue blood. They have some work to do....like beating Minnesota or at least making it a game!

You must not follow much western Iowa guy. It’s easy to spot those who live west of DM and those who live east of DM. Those who live west of DM constantly pollute this board trolling nebby fans. Sad.

What the hell are you talking about? I do not consider our little sisters to the West as being blue bloods. As a Nebraska fan, you do. That is just fine. Let’s leave it be.

The name of the game in college football is get talented guys on the roster and try to develop them. Even the top recruits need development. We have a talented roster overall. Like any year, whether or not we succeed will depend on whether guys develop. That's the beauty and frustration of being a college football fan. If you have a good coach and a talented roster (we do), any year could be a breakout year - OR NOT.

Been here less than a week and can see that there is little to hang around for here.
Every board has one or two posters who like to debate and talk college football, where are they?
Does anyone use any fact based arguments anymore on here?
I see a bunch of trolling and subjective opinions.
Well, bye Felicia.

So many good things about that day. Not to mention those jerseys were awesome.

You tend to find what you are looking for. Bye Felicia

Given that Ohio State is a BlueBlood based on their performance over the last 10 years. So who is your 2nd "True" BlueBlood??? And to save you time, it is NOT Nebraska!
I use the all time AP top ten that is updated annually. I can provide a link, but doubt anyone is truly interested. We are slowly climbing the ranks and with a few more good years, we could move into top 20.

I think losing James Daniels will hurt more than we think. Excited to see AJE’s improvement and who wins the safety spots. We’ll need to be tough up front and in the back end while the new linebackers gel.
Agree, thought we would have one of the best and most athletic lines maybe ever-that’s saying a lot. Not many college centers can pull and lead like he could. Still think OL will be really good

Well it’s pretty tough trolling Nebby fans on a Hawkeye board-or at least it should be. How pathetic is it that we are in February and we have enough traffic from huskerville that we can troll them.

Wisconsin owns Kirk's offense because he won't come out throwing against Bucky. This drives me nuts. Kirk's O has scored 10, 9 and ZERO points against them the last 3 years.

I hear you, but it’s obvious many here know the nebbers lurk here, just like many here lurk over there (including myself). It’s fun to see how they view their program.

and he has a golden arm. He also kicked ISU in the nuts in the best year of their history at Ames in his 2nd start.

Toren Young is going to be an animal. ISM, Easley, Brandon Smith will improve. Fant and Hockenson - two of the best we have ever had. D and line are almost always good year in and year out. Great kicker. Beat Nebraska 3 times in a row. Recruiting is up a notch.

We are moving in the right direction. Life is good.

******** nice post gary barta

Purdue, Wisconsin, NW and MSU were also on the schedule. Throw in a major 17-10 beat down on the Boat Rower and what do you have? An outlier win against the Buckeyes, a blowout of a terrible Nebraska team, a gritty performance against PSU and an OT win against a respectable, but not great Cyclone team. Next season will hinge on whether the Offense can show up for every game and not make the young LBers have to be perfect.

Bazata's production will be easily replaced - Epenesa (or the guy sliding over) is going to fill that hole and then some. There is a glut of talent on the DL waiting in the wings.

Losing Jewell, Neimann, and Bower will be tough to absorb, but when is the last time Iowa had a bad LB corps? Never in Ferentz's tenure has that been the case.

Jackson and Wadley - yeah, obviously. Daniels and Welsh? Meh. Next man in.

Other teams lose key guys too. We're not the only team to graduate and have players leave early.
The last time we had a bad LB crew is the last time we graduated 3 Sr LB: Morris, Kirksey and Hitchens.

Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but most any team with a pulse beat Nebraska during the Riley years. Beating tOSU - crowning achievement! Nebraska - not.

But it comes with great satisfaction because their fans still think they should be in top 5 every year no matter what.

And at that time, we replaced them with young untested LB's. This fall, I believe we have some talented 3rd and 4th year LB's to choose from. They just lack game time experience, but have had years of practice against our offense and on special teams. They also have played gametime snaps, so they have a good idea of the speed of the game. Time will tell.

Meh, if the one CB didn't blow chunks the D would have had a good game.
I believe it was manny, not 100% sure though.

Manny, Ojemudia, and Hankins all got taken to the cleaners by that wideout. Parker finally said enough was enough and stuck Jackson on him. That WR wasn't heard from again for the rest of the game after adjustment.

My post was confusing, I apologize. I'm referring to the year when Morris, Kirksey and Hitchens first started together as sophomores. And they really sucked.

"Really sucked" is a bit of an overstatement. Kirksey has always been a tackling machine and Morris played the position above-average, even in his first year. Hitchens.. yeah, he kinda sucked until the light came on. That being said, two of them are now borderline All-Pro and Morris ended up as one of the better MLBs of the Ferentz era.

Three guys that really sucked in their first year of starting.

Your point is taken. Jewell and Niemann were pretty good that year. Without naming names, there was a weak link and hopefully we see an upgrade out of the position moving forward to offset the consistency we got from Ben and the greatness we witnessed in Josey.
