Sumlin fired by A & M.

KEVIN was 51-26 up and down tenure. Not a bad record. Seems like some of these programs could undermine their relative stability by firing successful guys.
Case in point - look at the Nebraska mess. It’s sounding like they might luck out and get Frost. Even so, it will be interesting to see how he does in the B1G.

Why does Jimbo want out of FSU? Hopefully more of the same with Frost at Debby. Traditional Nebraska football is a thing of the past.

Where might Sumlin end up?

Jimbo is feeling the heat at FSU, and may want a fresh start.

Sumlin is rumored at Arizona State.

Rumor for Jimbo was 10 years 75M...that would put him 2nd only to Harbaugh. As for Sumlin...ASU.

Aggies owes him a $10.4 million buyout under the terms of his contact, which is to be paid in the next 60 days and isn't reduced if he takes another coaching job.

And is he takes over at ASU...they owe Graham 12 million to leave.

wowza Everybody talking about the coaching carousel. One of the out of control side effects appears to be the rapidly ballooning salaries and buy-outs. Its a bonanza for head coaches, even marginally good coaches. Looks like we could be seeing $10M per year annual salaries and $20+M buy outs in the not-too-distant future.

Hayden Fry was lured to Iowa in 1979 under a contract that paid him $40,000 per year! Bo Pelini is getting more money in just one partial annual installment from his 2013 buy out from Nebraska than living Hall of Fame coaches earned over an entire life time.

“Today it’s astronomical,” said Fry. “I’ve got five assistant coaches who are head coaches now who make more money in one year than I made in 47. That’s how much it’s changed.”

But there is no money for the players ;)

What is going to school for free? What are all the meals these guys get? What is the physical therapy, the counselling, the tutors or the prestige of playing college athletics? Seems to me they are being paid and pretty well.

With the millions being paid to coaches, AD's and Conference commissioners and the like I don't think giving the players a small stipend for expenses is too much to ask considering all the money they are making for others. Just my opinion, not trying to derail the thread.

They do get a stipend. Approved by NCAA in 2015. Varies from college to college. $2,000-$5,000 per year.
