China passed us on daily carbon emissions a few years back, but I don't think India is there yet.
But those comparisons are disingenuous for at least 2 reasons.
1. China and India, each, have over 4 times our population.
2. We are by far the largest historical contributor of carbon and, since CO2 has a half life of ~120 years, the vast majority of the carbon we have added is still causing problems.
By every way you look at it, except the misleading way cons and the fossil energy sector want us to look at it, we are the major offender. I assume we will continue to hold that dubious distinction for a pretty long time, but I have no numbers on that.
