Super 32

depends on how you view aggression. jesuroga took ground all match, but valencia definitely out shot him.

Yeah—the “just waited for a shot that wasn’t there” is more what I was speaking to.

It really doesn’t matter.

Once he catches up physically with some of these kids as a true 120 or 126 pounder, he will start to dominate and score more points. IMO, could wrestle 113 rt now.
yeah he looks tiny. my one concern would be length. hopefully he grows into being a solid-sized 125.

Only a Junior, right? Even more time.

He is small, but not wasting anytime worrying about a Junior in HS who is the clear #1 in the country at 120. He’ll be a fine 125 by the time he needs to be.

Exactly. A guy like Bouzakis is an absolute unit at his weight and looks college ready from a physical standpoint. He looks to have to cut substantially to get down to 32. His results reflect this. A guy like Nate gets by on technique, hand fighting and pace. Can you imagine those snaps once he is full size?

In this respect, I think a lot of folks looked past Wyatt Henson because he wasn't scoring a boatload of points and dominating in high school because he was wrestling his fat wt and also because PA is a tough road in terms of depth if you don't cut.

Did anyone else love the product placement of @smalls103 putting himself in the camera line of every big match at Super 32, including Jesuroga quarters when nobody else was watching mat side and Bassett-Knox when everybody else was watching mat side, on the Flo broadcast?

Yup...thought it was funny having Willie in most every shot.

So Iowa summary for placement I had

120- Jesuroga Champ
170- Tate Nak 5th
182- Mickey Griffith 7th and CJ Walrath 8th.

Tate lost a couple really close ones including 1-1 ot to Thompson who he has also beaten in a close one before. Of note Tate just beat the 182 champ at this tournament Rogotzke 2-3 weeks ago at Night of Conflict. I've noticed he tends to lose a little in the tank in these long multi match tournaments. I thought in his loss to Lawrence being tired was a factor late. Imo based on his frame he should chow down and hit the weights and move to 182.

I'm shocked.

Per his dad, Tate ran sprints after his last match.

Tough kid needs help with endurance.

I watched all of Nate’s matches and I was impressed. I never wrestled at Super 32 but I wrestled in plenty of pre-season tourneys and big respect to anyone that can bring it for that many matches against top quality kids before you are actually in your own wrestling room. A couple close losses to some of the best guys in the country prior to your Jr year is nothing to hang your head about. Hope he’s a Hawk.

Am I the only one who had to check what weight class Lee wrestled as a freshman after Knox said he’s the greatest 106 lber in history? For the record Lee started at 113.
To be fair he said he AND Bassett were “probably” the best 106ers ever. I immediately thought of Spencer too, didn’t know he started at 113. That’s a bold statement still, there have been some dominant 98-106 over the years. Troy Nickerson comes to mind, and Alan Fried dominated Junior Nationals as a freshman before there was a Cadet that ran the same weekend.

Nickerson was an absolute hammer, I’m not sure what grade he was at 106, unbelievable how 7th and 8th graders can be so good.

Maybe the poor kid didn't know Wrestling was actually around before Penn State "invented it" in 2010? LOL!

I'm sure there have been plenty of great 106 lbers at one time or another (long before this Young Lad was born........). I'll give him a pass, he can learn his history later.

lol. that was literally the only place i could find. fiinals mat was entirely surrounded. i felt bad for the college coaches on the floor; they couldn't see anything.

You'd think being in a room with Spencer will help both Ayala and Jesuroga's top game s. Front row clinic every day from the master.

Spencer will help them improve, but you’ll never see tilts like Spence. Max Thompson was a single leg then tilt master until college. Not that easy to get that bar. Spence struggles at times to get that arm out and he has some freak strength, but once he does….5 points.
