SWARM CEO Brad Heinrichs Interview. 20% of SWARM Beer SALES & 25% of Vodka SALES goes to SWARM. Says they need 10,000+ paying members; they're @ 1,800

hope they sell it in Kinnick during FB game and in Carver for Men and Women's BB Along with wrestling and the other sports

if it tastes good it will sell itself. then other outlets will pick it up to sell in their stores,

So where can you get Swarm beer right now in eastern Iowa? I have family coming to visit me in 2 weeks, and I’d love for them to bring me a 6-pack, if I can tell them where to find it.

Any news when it will hit HyVee? I was there today but did not see it.

On May 16: SWARM Golden Ale will be available in late July in restaurants, entertainment venues, retail stores and in Exile Brewing Company’s taproom, according to the news release.

But now that it's already out at some establishments, it appears it will be in retail stores much sooner than late July.

I can see the future. It’s July 4 and I have some of this at 34 degrees. Gonna be great.

What did they buy this at? The Swarm doesn’t get any extra money if the retailer is gouging the customer.

$2.50 a tall boy is hardly gouging…

Yeah, I never commented on the price (Cid did). I just showed a picture of what Exile was charging. ;)

Here's a question for anyone on beer distribution & mark ups. Is this correct?

* Exile Brewing sells to distributors (at a mark up); SWARM gets 20% of these sales

* Distributors sell to retail stores (at a mark up)

* Retail Stores sell to their customers (at a mark up)

I have to admit; I have a lot to learn when it comes to how beverages are distributed. To get this this beer distributed to Hy-Vee stores outside of Iowa, I originally thought Exile Brewing (in Des Moines) would only have to get the beer to a Hy-Vee distribution center (in Des Moines) where Hy-Vee could then get the beer on trucks heading to Kansas City (so @kceasthawk can buy it), Minneapolis/St Paul (so @skydog0784 can buy it), etc. Apparently I thought wrong! LOL

Talked to a Waukee Hy Vee Beer & Liquor Department person and he thought they’d have Swarm the first full week of July, so hopefully by the weekend of the 8th. His words were two weeks and that was a call on Saturday (24th).

Looks awful light,.. I suspect they were going for a bud light / busch light everyman's beer?

Yeah, its a light beer. I had a few the other night and enjoyed them. I’m sure what they were going for is a beer that you can drink a ton of at tailgates, 4th of July weekend, etc. as that makes more money for the Swarm. An IPA where you drink one per sitting isn’t going to generate as much money. I think they hit it out of the park really in matching what they were going for.

Any word on if/when they will post sales numbers? I think it would be interesting to see how the numbers look after a few weeks of sales. Not my type of beer but will definitely buy some during the season at kinnick/tailgating… good job SWARM!

$55 a case is crazy. They really messed up on the price point for a light beer.

From my understanding of beer distribution, there are 3 mark ups.

* Exile Brewing sells to distributors (at a mark up); SWARM gets 20% of these sales

* Distributors sell to retail stores (at a mark up)

* Retail Stores sell to their customers (at a mark up)
