SWARM CEO Brad Heinrichs Interview. 20% of SWARM Beer SALES & 25% of Vodka SALES goes to SWARM. Says they need 10,000+ paying members; they're @ 1,800

Well, yes, but the idea is to take the pressure off of the donors with some renewable income. I don’t get how you can be disappointed with this news. Did you expect them to pull in 5 million a year on booze sales?
nope that is why I stated that that they will still need the big donors.

everything needs a starting point and this is the starting point for the swarm beer,

30 grand won't even get IA in the door, it will take at least $300,000 to get these players to listen, then when it gets to 1/2 a mill they will shut the door.

remember Bama paid Proctor $2,600,000 ti flip from IA . 30 g's is not even a drop in the bucket compared to the big money programs,

like what they are doing but they are going to need help and a lot of it. they need a few donator to give $5,000,000 all at once. and the more like this to really make it close.
Where did you see Proctor got $2.6 million? If that's the case, he's lying when he says Iowa "actually offered more".

that was posted on Hawkeye Nation, yes Proctor lied, that's why Proctor is not that big a loss, sorry Proctor was all about the money and nothing else,

I like the 23 OL and the 24 OL going forward. plus if they get 6'8 Brooks most people will go who where it concerns Proctor.

Speaking of recurring revenue, it will be interesting to see if that 1,800 subscriber number increases dramatically as people learn more and more about SWARM
I hear it’s over 2000 now but I’m not sure there’s a whole lot of growth opportunity there. I think the emphasis needs to be on what value is extracted for the donor at this point. Or highlight the good works of the players being in the community. Simply saying that this is what it takes to field a competitive team now isn’t going to move the needle enough for the casual fan.

Interesting response. Sounds almost dismissive and full of negativity. Why can’t you support this initiative? You are all about support(when it fits your narrative, hello Rick Heller) and now you look down your nose at $30K in a month from beer sales. Your negativity is worrisome.

Did a Clown Collective come up with a beer partnership similar to what SWARM has with Exile Brewing?

If so, the Clown Athletic Dept is now competing with its own Collective. And note that the brewery is Backpocket, in Coralville, IA

Great first month for Swarm, they gotta be proud of the effort so far. It is a home run to get this up and moving like they did, and to have as successful sales and distribution, and to get such a great partner in Exile. $30K donated likely means at least $225 - $300K in gross sales in less than a month.

These new business ventures are likely going to determine the success or failure of the collective and the team. Seems like Brad has a good sense of things and he’s put us on the right path. Hopefully the school will start to respond as well when Goetz takes over.

What would this year's football team look like if @Tx_Hawk had not stepped up and created SWARM? Without Brad, we don't have a collective buying players (like a QB) that we desperately needed.

It's nice to see, too, that the beer will be sold at Kinnick, which I think Barta was against initially. I imagine that took some arm twisting.

I’m excited to see what Goetz and Brad can do together.

How can they determine 20 percent of retail, when different stores set different retails?

From my understanding of beer/alcohol distribution, there are 3 mark ups.

* Exile Brewing sells to distributors (at a mark up); this is were SWARM gets 20% of the beer sales, 25% of the vodka sales

* Distributors then sell to retail stores (at a mark up)

* Retail Stores then sell to their customers (at a mark up)

"We get 20% off the price that it is sold for at the store….so 20% off the top line. That doesn’t suck. I am so excited about this project!!"

I get and understand what you are saying, but it was the highlighted quote from Brad that I don't believe is accurate. If it said that "we get 20% from the price that it is sold TO the store", that makes sense. But I don't see it being feasible to track retail prices

Franisdaman is correct. There was confusion at first, but has been corrected since. Exile gives a check to the Swarm, not the distributors or retail stores.

Wow. Clown Fest. "bring in the clowns"..Lol...Should just put a picture of Bozo, or Ronald Macdonald on the can....

I get this. The confusion is what number the 20% comes from.

Does it come from the cost :
1. The cost from Exile to distributors(not sure)
2. The cost from distributor to retailers( $8.25 per 4 pack or 49.50 per case)
3. The cost charged by retailers (range I have heard is between 8.99-11.99-some outliers higher)

All I was saying is that from Brad's tweet, it made it sound like the 20% came from the retail price(the amount charged by retailers). All I was getting at is that getting the 20% of retail figure would be hard to figure, as you have many different retailers and prices. Unless they just went with the 10.99 SRP

Month two numbers should be interesting. The distribution should be increased but the initial purchases to build the displays/inventory will be less. Month 2-3 will tell the tale.

Wow, I’m surprised by that number. I didn’t think it would be near on par with the beer.

I didn't either. Hawks fans must love their vodka!

It’s basically like the same contribution obviously too early to determine the trend of it. It looks like they’ve got 750 K a year in recurring revenue from the alcohol partners!

Yep, $750,000 annually seems like a target that will be hit.

The annual numbers, based on what's been reported so far:

$375,000 ($7,200/week for vodka)
$360,000 ($30,000/month for beer)
..............................................................
$735,000 Total
============================

Enthusiasm may taper off but that might be countered by a couple of things: (1) I don't think either Exile Brewing or Foundry Distilling are at full brewing capacity yet in order to meet demand; and (2) there are probably a lot of liquor stores in Iowa that have not been supplied yet.

Demand appears to be high out of state, too. Hy-Vee does business in 8 states. Imagine if they get these products in Hy-Vee liquor stores in some of the other 7 states.
