T. Young

sargent looked mediocre.

Iowa OL looked mediocre most of game but started opening some big holes in 2nd half...not enough chances to score with Wisconsin eating up the clock.

Yeah i cant figure it out either. On one of last scoring drives young was running angry and had 2 runs of 10 yds apiece. Next series we bring ikm back in and cant run at all. Young needed to be in at the end. He sees the cutback lanes way better than any other back we have. Plus hes a beast to bring down and punishes the d. He should be getting 15 to 20 carries a game

Im pretty mad right now so I am not trying to be a jerk but our o line allowed us to run for more yards in the first half than second. Then those gaping holes we decided not to run through anymore.

I disagree about the OL. THe OL was great the whole game. Unfortunately, Iowa didnt run up the middle enough. Wisky has a fast defense and when Iowa runs wide, they are quick enough to make plays. OL was blowing their line back off the ball and provided Stanley with a bunch of time all game. I thought it was a good game for them.

Dude was gashing WIsky up the middle for 4-6 yrds a carry. I love a RB rotation but it just didnt make sense to not ride this power up the gut. Our OL looked great when we ran up the middle but when running side-to-side, Wisky was much too fast.

This x infinity. Its almost like BF was thinking that Wisconsin's defense was so tough up front he didn't realize we were gashing them.

Game plan should have been to run straight at a depleted defense. They got much better when we ran sideways. Our field goal would have been a td going straight ahead with T. Young. Are the staff afraid of transfers so they think they have to split up reps? Are they half blind? We would have won going straight ahead and mixing in passing and some plays to stretch the defense at the los.

Why does Sargent see the field so much? No comprende.

OL played great. IKM is the #1. Toren should be #2. Sargent mixed in to see if he has hot hand. Mekhi is a good back when he's on, but he didn't have it tonight.

We know who the number 1 and 2 is. Thanx for another worthless post

Read the thread, idiot. This thread is about Young being our lead back and I'm stating that he's not as good at IKM.

You think Hornibrook is better than Stanley. Only one of them will be playing on Sunday and it sure as hell won't be the one you favor.

Good back based on what? He wasn't on against ISU either. Only decent game this year was vs the FCS team.

Im furious about this. Maybe not Toren specifically not getting the ball but the offensive line crushed their d line and we run outside? The middle was getting 3-5 yards minimum.

Ask Brian and all the people that defend him on here that question.

I guess I didn't ask. I think I know the answer. I would love to pick the brain of coaches sometimes and ask these questions. BF knows infinitely more football than I do so why does he not see something that looks so obvious to me.

Ever since Wisconsin switched to the 3-4 the outside has been a no go zone for Iowa but that doesn't jive with our gameplan from the 90's so we still go there. I mean when you repeatedly see the FB have to block a guy inside the tackles and then your RB go 1 on 3 before the line of scrimmage but yet you keep going back to those plays every freaking year I mean.....what......kind.......of......insanity

The last TD drive in 2nd half with Toren Young was impressive. The next drive we didn't execute and punted to Wisconsin and their offense won the game for them.

The 6 carries for 14 yards by Sargent was not impressive.
IKM had an early 19 yarder and then more pedestrian ypc on his other 13 carries.

I'd like to see the stats for 1st down runs, because it looked to me
Wisconsin consistently out gained Iowa on 1st down runs. In the end, Iowa only put up 17pts hardly signs of dominant OL.

I wouldn't put the loss on the OL, but the offense was so-so and defense didn't live up to its potential and the special teams was the difference.

I think Wisconsin may have had more yards on first down but we GASHED them up the middle. As someone noted, the outside run doesn't work with the 3-4. When BYU beat them on those jet sweeps it was between the tackle and guard right where the hole was. We kept trying to get outside the tackle.

The o line also allowed 0 sacks and plenty of time to throw.

I think Brian Ferentz doesnt have a clue on how to utilize his playmakers on offense. Hell, I think he doesnt know what the hell he is doing as an offensive coordinator. It looks like one big science experiment out there without any clear plan each week. BF didnt have experience and he was handed the keys to the offense. With that said, KF must keep close tabs on BF because this offense is just as vanilla as ever. I guess you can say "at least we dont have Greg Davis anymore."

OL run blocking between the tackles was solid. Outside the tackles non existent. Pass blocking by the tackles was ok to solid, by the interior linemen below average. Overall I would say the OL vs the Wisconsin DL was a push. Ever since Wisconsin switched to the 3-4 it changed the way this game is played...well not so much for Iowa.

The 3-4 gave Wisconsin the upper hand against Iowa in certain areas ie outside run D and short passing defense. However Iowa gained an upper hand in between the tackles running and TE's in the passing game. Our TE's get off the ball now with little to no contact and are allowed to get down field cleanly. Iowa just runs the same gameplan since the 90's against Wisconsin and fails to exploit their weaknesses even when we have the horses to exploit them.

The problem was never GD or KOK or even BF. Why was eppy and fant on the sidelines so much? Why did Sargent get the same number of carries as Toren? Why take a knee to end the 1st half when we are driving and can get in FG range? Every multi-year starting QB regressed in the W/L column as seniors. Yet look at TW and JR as seniors in another program. It all fits within a simple philosophy -- playing not to lose.

Funny....Maybe it wasn't Gregg D.'s fault?

Quite the paradox this playing not to lose.

The few games that young and kelly ivory played together young had the better day in my opinion. I know the drive in the third qtr that led to our td was set up after a few great runs by young

Stanley will be holding a clipboard on Sundays at best if He doesn't fix His accuracy issues .
