Teasdale

Pish, been reading HR for years, you finally got me to post. I think you missed the point, and the point of these boards. I happen to be a PSU fan, and from Philly. You should hear sports talk radio in Philly sometime. Sixers, Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, and college sports. Insane people most of the time. Why do people care? Bunch of guys making millions, right, or just students, right? Well, they are our teams and our schools. No different in my mind than my wife loving the opera and orchestra, painful as that may be for me (since I have to go with her). We all have things we enjoy that make life better. For me it is sports, as it is for most on this and all boards.

In Iowa where you don’t have pro sports I can only imagine the Hawks are big. What is wrong with that? Your teams are college teams, so your players are…..students. That is why a teenager is being talked about. So are football recruits and others. That’s sports. What is the issue? As Chief mentioned, twitter is just life these days. Change is the norm. Personally, twitter just doesn’t do it for me so I let others search those things out, but it wasn’t about twitter, it was about the kid. I’d be willing to bet he doesn’t think it is a bad thing to be talked about.

I’ve been around a bit more than 46 years, and in my day all we had was evening news and newspapers and it could take weeks to find out simple things about your team (the things that go on behind the scenes). It was frustrating. Its great to be able to talk about our sports, find out info regularly (even if it turns out to be wrong), and to speculate. Sometimes that is half the fun. Poking fun at other teams, rubbing it in when it goes your way. Being a good loser (hopefully) when it doesn’t (unless it’s Dallas….no such thing as a poor loser in that case, anything goes). ;)

No one is messed up on this board. I read this board every day and have for a long time because of what I learn, for the jokes and fun, but also because of the quality of people. Reading normally is a positive. Maybe I missed it, but I don’t remember hearing one bad word about Teasdale in the whole thread even when it was speculated that he may have changed his mind. It was just hope he comes here, but wish him well, and whatever is best for him is what we want, etc. That is what impressed me about the thread. Got nothing negative from it. That and other situations over time tell me all I need to know about most of the people here. Otherwise, why were you and I even here reading about this?

I would just quote Aaron Rodgers, “relax”. No issue here. Enjoy the season, the ups and downs, goods and bads, the debates. While its great to look back on a championship, for me its all about the journey (though I have to admit I have really enjoyed the recent championships…. :) ). I also enjoy the banter between HR and BWI though I haven’t joined in. Makes most days more enjoyable.

Hope you can do the same. I’ll chalk yours up to a bad day. Look at it this way, at least you don’t have to root for the Sixers….
This is Gebmo's post in bball form:

Jese. Glad I was able to bring Grebmo the Great out of hiding

(Now I slink back in my corner in shame)

P.S. great post gebmo. By the way I'm from Jersey. I know Philly radio well. Actually won a contest and was invited to Eagle game years ago by Howard Eskin

Sure...but there is a market for it. Without fans being interested, there would be no Flo or trips to recruits houses keeping us on the edge of our seat. When it gets near committing time, you better believe fans whether Iowa, PSU, tOSU are paying attention to stuff on Twitter and other social media boards. Fans want recruiting info. So if a recruit is posting a crapload of stuff about Iowa, PSU, OSU, Minne etc...it gets noted; by all fan bases. If a recruit deletes his "I proudly commit to the University of Iowa etc" which is pinned to his Twitter at the top, it gets noted. BTW, Spencer Lee still has his...but I guess I'm being creepy. Social media, at best, keeps us up on what they are doing wrestling wise, where they are headed to tourneys etc. At worst, it produces days like this whether its speculation or an announcement that goes the other way.

Fans are going to overreact to losses, coaching, wins, recruiting etc...it's not the first time HR has gotten spun up and it won't be the last. BTW, there were an equal amount (or more) of guys on here last night saying don't get spun up, much ado about nothing, etc so your initial post was a hasty generalization. I am unabashedly a fan...If Teasdale went somewhere else it would suck because he is going to be part of something big and was an important cog in it. Still, would have wished him the best at his chosen destination because in the end...he is just a young man. When HR stops doing that, than you can jump on us and call us gay.

I'll give it a 9 for Historical reference, a 8 for easy to dance to ..........

but a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot for what is that all about?

Topics that had an abnormally high number of threads and posts on this board, off the top of my head:
Grothus...
Dylan Carrew is healthy and Spoons says he'll be a national champ.
Slaton is coming back but I'm not sure if he'll beat out Marion.
Destin McCauley was wearing a Hawkeye shirt in a picture.
The next Ballweg is supposed to be the most talented.
Moore or Clark, which one gives gives us the best chance to win now?
Topher is having an awesome red-shirt year and will really surprise some people.

I'd vote we keep Teasdale off this list.

I remember all of these - an 0'fer list for sure. I agree, this thread needs to die fast.

Yea, I had to change my name. My computer crashed and I couldn't get my password back. I was curious if anybody actually missed me.... LOL
Carew and I are pretty good friends and still keep in touch so I guess I was a bit bias there. :)

This is for you AZ,

GMan: Champ and will bonus his way through the tournament.
Clark: BIG Question mark right now. Hoping he makes it back and wins it all
Carton: Like him a lot and probably should be ranked but rd. of 12 is our best hope here.
Sorensen: 2nd, still the 2nd best 149lber in the country.
Kemdawg: 3rd, he will take some lumps along the way, but in the end he finishes 3rd
The Bull: 4th, could be higher could be lower
Meyer: 4th, could be 1 spot higher or could be rd. of 12
Brooks: 4th, could be 1 spot higher or could be rd. of 12
Wilcke: NQ would be GREAT
Stoll: 3rd, could be 1 spot higher or lower.

Team: 2nd

Wow, that brings back some memories. If u look at the dog and cover his eyes and use your imagination a bit Batman is having a good time with catwoman.

8 in the top 4 is not a second place finish.
You do realize what psu has going for them.
Soriano probably gets 2nd to The Machine.
Cortez is a Rd. Of 12 type guy.
Guilibon is a Rd of 12 type guy.
Rutherford gets 1st with LOTS of bonus pts.
Nolf gets 1st with LOTS of bonus pts.
Joseph is a lower AA to Rd of 12 type guy.
Rasheed is a Rd of 12 type guy
Nickal probably gets 2nd to Dean and gets some good bonus pts.
McCutchen is a lower AA type guy. Good lord 197 is pretty weak.
Nevils is probably wrestling Stoll for 3rd.

Not to mention Oky. State probably has 10 AA's right now. But I will say I am NOT all that concerned with fosu.

Iowa - 3 in finals and 7 AA
PSU- 4 in finals and 6 or 7 AA.

Iowa needs to bonus where it can and hope for a PSU upset, maybe Soriano, McCutchen or Joseph go down early and end of up with bad draw. If Brooks and Meyer can reach there potential we could have a great run in St. Louis.

Excited for the real competition and to see some top matchups. Especially PSU vs Iowa duel.
