Teske transfer

It should be noted that most of your fellow board members vehemently disagree.

The more I think about Teske, the more pumped I get for 133 and what it could become.

I think Teske has his back against the wall with nothing to lose. This just feels like a story that could explode in a very positive way for the Hawks.

This is a guy who has won some before but wants to prove he belongs with the big boys. Again, it just feels like this has a special season written all over it.

Just quoting this for future reference. It should be noted that most of your fellow board members vehemently disagree.
I don't think that is accurate at all. They just think loyalty, to a certain degree, should be expected. If you have guys like Schriever and Murin, who haven't AA'd yet, you bring in a Eierman, Teske or even a Woods and let the chips fall. However when you have a proven guy, that is different. Like, for instance, Michael Beard. If they had someone like him, I don't think they would have chased Dean.(They actually did in Warner). Now, if Dean came knocking and was willing to come for next to nothing, that is different. No team turns that down.

But, they weren't going to actively pursue Dean. That is the difference. Another good example goes back to the very beginning of Brands HC stint at Iowa. Alex Tsirtsis dediced he wanted to redshirt. As such, that changed the money he had to offer Jordan Blanton. Instead of telling Tsirtsis no or changing his funding, they ended up losing Blanton. Things like that don't go unnoticed.

psu didn't actively pursue dean either. that has been well established. and warner was way more established than michael beard. remember, he was very up and down and already on his 3rd year out of high school. he was a surprise AA who was the beneficiary of a blown up bracket. his path to AA was 18 seed (w), 31 seed (w-schultz pinned himself r1), 26 seed (L), 13 seed (W).

this is such a silly conversation. when you have the ability to improve the team, you do it.

If you want to put together a list of rules we can govern our collective thought by, Im happy to read the f** from afar.....

Strengthens 133 and gives the weight AA depth. Whomever wins 133 and nails down the job will be better now because of it. Brands knows this.

How does a weight without an AA competing have “AA depth”?

Has 2 years left, presumably both at 133.

Be pretty cool next year to Ayala / Teske at the first two weights. Not counting out Schriver but he has never been the same since he was injured in high school (junior year I believe).

He had multiple wins over NCAA qualifiers last season but he was better as a HS junior? Highly doubtful.

You actively do it when you have unproven guys. You don't go recruit Feldman when you have Cass(who has "only" finished 3rd and 7th). But, I did say you take Dean if he is the one knocking and willing to come for cheap. That is my sole point.

And if you don't think PSU kicked the tires with Dean you are clueless. There is a reason Beard is now gone. You think Kerkvliet just fell at PSU's doorstep too? Look, I don't even have a problem with PSU doing so. They are by far the best product right now. I just hope everyone going in knows that up front. Meanwhile, the Brands have been known for a different loyalty style in recruiting.

Now, maybe they have changed that style a bit since. I just hope they are honest with it if they have. Most DI wrestlers know the starting spot isn't a given. However, most that AA in a spot where the room isn't challenging their spot, don't expect an AA at that weight transferring in with an open welcome or the team going full out for a top recruit at their weight when they have several years left.

There is a balance and loyalty goes both ways...

He was healthier back then, maybe. Better health.

Yup, that’s literally what happened with him and Penn State.

You could (and should) have ended your post here.

Once again you reach for controversy rather than read the quote. Typical. Didn't say he was better as a high school junior but the injury he sustained hampered his progress. You must just sit and police the board for ANY opportunity to chime in with your rhetoric dude. Sad

I'm sure none of that exists on the PSU board, right? Always consistent objective thought over there.
i am sure it does trap, but i would not know i have no reason to go to their board. If the guys that come here are representative of their posters, no thanks.

He’s like a shark following the scent of stupidity around the ‘pool. Sometimes he just bites down just to chomp on something.

Yeah but he’s not the same since then. He’s better.

Well it’s not recruiting over if the guy coming in doesn’t get the spot. Unless he has health issues, I have Schriever. If Teske takes it, I’ll support him too.

It would probably help if our dorks hadn't been so critical of PSU accepting an NCAA runner up to replace their 7th placer. Talk about an absolute no-brainer, yet our fans couldn't contain their butthurt.

There is a difference between accepting it and hating it. I am pretty sure, deep down, they all accepted it. Just the pure hate caused them to find any argument, rational or irrational, to put up against it!

Any chance of him going back down after Spencer and Ayala is aloud to eat/lift and goes 133?

Pumped to see Spencer really putting the work in the weight room. I’d say all the time off with the knees has helped that. He looks like a freaking animal ready for this year.

Not if Schreiver is healthy and has anything to say about it, imo.
