That thar Iowa state win is looking pretty good

Both Mens and Womens crushed them and could be top 10 wins.

Iowa St. has some phenomenal recruiting classes coming in. It's looking like they are going to be good for awhile :(

Why is Hilton sold out & loud?!

They should have to have Eastern Iowa fans in the Des Moines area.

It’s a school night, it’s cold out, there’s high school games tonight, etc, etc.

There’s absolutely zero reason why their crowd should be this loud & Hilton this packed!

So now it isn’t winning games it is recruiting class rankings. Let the beat downs continue you can have recruiting rankings.
Nope. It’s what it’s always been…how far do you get in the NCAA tournament. That said, TJ is making Sweet 16’s with medium talent…pretty exciting to see what will happen with elite talent!

I expect starting next year again, Hilton will sell out every year in season tickets. Been a few years since that happened, but people will be even more excited than this year. Just checked ticket prices for Kansas in Ames, and the lower section is between 400-600 per ticket. Go up in the rafters in the corners it might be possible to get tickets for 200.

In all fairness the beat downs are 1-1 the last two years. I like ISU chances over ours the next several years. Especially on the big stage.
Fran has never even taken us to a sweet 16.
Why limit to the last two years? We will see if isu can continue to draw teams in the tourney that fire their coach days ahead of their first game.

I guess I'll take the recruiting rankings, 1st place in the league, the top 10 NET ranking, and the sold out hyped up arena. If I get those things I'll find a way to carry on.

If you are ok with the regular beat downs from big bro then why are you here? I mean do you really think Iowa fans give two rips about how isu does in the stats that clown fans think matter now?

See that is the the thing, clown fans want so desperately to be the big brother in the state but despite their periodic on field or on court success they have it never really matters. So you all run a round trying to claim superiority in something that may matter to you this very second but once Iowa surpasses you once again in any of those stats clown fans will claim they don’t matter and it is only head to head or some other bogus stat is what really matters.

I find it hilarious how all of a sudden clown fans puff out their chests over how great they think their conference is but of course we must ignore how the conference did in Bowl games. Yep clown fans claimed superiority a year previously based on Bowl game performance but suddenly this year Bowl game performance can’t be used to judge how good the Big Ten West is or how fake the Texas Ten was. The reality is the Big Ten West won as many Bowl games and the fake Texas Ten and had better winning %. Will clown fans admit their bashing was unwarranted? Absolutely not. No way will they let a myth that goes to the very core of their douchy little brother culture die in any way shape or form.

So we end up exactly where we usually do, laughing at the clowns and not taking them seriously. Just like the rest of the college athletics universe.

You mean like the beat down you took in Hilton last year? ;)
You mean like the beat downs the Hawks have given little bro the past 5 years?

Or must we pick and choose certain and select time frames for clown fans to feel ok.

Hey did sellouts and net rankings matter last year at this time or do they only count this year when the clowns aren’t fighting to stay out of the cellar again.

I'd admit ISU has more going for it in basketball, but in that adorable, little brother sort of way.
Sure just ignore they were fighting it out just to stay out of the cellar last year. Clown fans insist on it.

Wins against ISU and Clemson are looking pretty good now. I continue to think the EIU loss will be virtually meaningless. We just need to take care of business at this point.

I expect the committee will do like they have in the past. They will look at everything. When they look at the EIU game they will realize the Iowa team that night played without 2 starters. Two starters that had large impacts on performance in the remaining “body of work”.

HerkyFan you’re embarrassing yourself. Your ignorance of college basketball outside of Iowa City is laughable.
If you say so. Weren’t the clowns fighting to stay out of the cellar last year? Hasn’t the NCAA basketball committee said year after year after year after year after year that they make selections based on the “whole body of work”?

Do tell me what I am ignorant about.

Because that's the TJ "era". Prohm was a dumpster fire.

Prohm was a dumpster fire? So does this mean you are taking down the sweet 16 and conference tournament championship banners he had? Gee at the time clown fans sure did run their mouths about it a lot. Or must we pick and choose certain and select time frames. Thank god clown fans have that move down.

Does the same thing work for football or any other sports as that will show how isu is still our little brother or is this confined to just men’s basketball and everything else must be ignored?

I am a Hawkeye fan through and through, and depending on the 'characters' on ISU's team, love to see them struggle. That being said, you are sounding like a 13-year-old punk. They have a very good team this year, and while yes we did kick their butts this year, I'm willing to wager my house that if we played them again that isn't happening--it was 'one of those games'. We've been on the other side of those plenty of times.

Look I agree isu is a good team this year. I post exactly the way isu fans act in the threads where clown fans come and run their mouths. So when you say I sound like a 13 year old punk what you are really doing is describing the isu fan base. With that being said I couldn’t agree any more.

I think you’re the only one amused by it.

I would switch coaches and circumstances in basketball with Iowa State in a heartbeat. There is just no real excitement in the Iowa basketball program right now. And rightfully so. Recruiting is meh, defense is nonexistent, and the results on the court are all over the place, which translates most years to just above average finishes in an average conference.

The same thing occurs at any school or sport where there is a coach with 10 years longevity. It happened when Hawk fans were bored with Tom Davis and thought we should get to the next level. We still haven’t gotten back to the results Davis achieved. Not sure Fran will ever get us there but I also don’t feel he will take us back to his predecessor’s level of performance either. I have yet to find a school reach and maintain a high level of winning that does so changing head coaches every 4-7 years.

I was talking with a coworker yesterday about the fan support around Iowa basketball. Is it the lack of tournament success? Fran not being “Midwest nice”? It’s not like Dr. Tom’s teams were great defensively either, but the fans embraced him and his teams.

Will it take a coaching change to get people excited again?

Eastern Iowa fans suck.

Plus they don’t have the population or anywhere near the $$$ that the Des Moines metro has.

Eastern Iowa keeps shrinking while Dallas County & Des Moines explode.

Herky still mad the 2nd place Big 12 team beat the vaunted Big Ten champions.

And if you think lower tier bowl game records matter with the Transfer portal and players skipping them, I can’t help you.

I get it just fine stinky. Bowl games matter only when clown fans say so.

Valid points. I also think CHA has a reputation--fair or not--of being boring and a pain in the ass to get to.

Parking and the wait time to drive in/out are bad for non-student fans and most of the students live on other side of river. Barta being worthless at getting a home court advantage doesn't help.

Love it, Herkys own fan base calls him a punk and somehow he turns it to ISU. Congrats on that win against ISU, at least you can say you beat a ranked team. You only get a shot at that once playing the entire BIG schedule.

Love it clown fan can’t answer a simple question. Wonder why?

I also see clown fans still think CMC is gods gift to college football coaching. Only fan base on the planet that thinks a last place finish by multiple games = a great coach.

We want more. We want more. We want more and clown fans will give it to us. Wait for it, wait for it…..

It’s NCAA tournament success that matters, and that requires winning meaningful games. Frankly, Iowa can win the instate game every year for all we care, as long as we make runs to the second weekend and beyond in the NCAA tournament. I suspect that isn’t a goal of yours since it hasn’t happened in the lifetimes of any of your players.
