The clones have been very impressive this year. I don't think they're really any good, but they've got an incredible coach there, and even when they were scrapping for smaller-time recruits they managed to get a bunch of pieces that work great defensively, and they also seem to always find one guy they can build around offensively.
Later in the year they're going to face some teams that can guard Osunniyi one-on-one, or their inconsistent outside shooting will get them, or he'll get in foul trouble. That's not a Sweet 16 quality team. TBH they weren't last year either. But when you have a defense, you have a better chance in these tournament settings down the road.
Otz recruiting this way, with consecutive top 5 classes, having immediate success as a coach, should show everyone here at Iowa that we should expect a lot better from our program. For whatever reasons - Iowa isn't providing the support and coaching necessary to be a top-flight basketball program and ISU is - and we all know the gulf in resources there is between these programs.
