Minor correction, but Judaism is not a major world religion. It has less then 1% of the world's population.

Only 14 million Jews in the world - that's .02 percent. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz makes it feel like 1%.

Judaism is the oldest of the world's monotheistic religions.
Its impact on civilization has nothing to do with the number
of Jews living today. The Hebrew Old Testament gave us
the 10 Commandments which provided an ethical basis
and foundation for cultures in every century.

Bottom Line: Murder, Adultery, Theft, Libel, are forbidden
by God in the 10 Commandments. Civil government did
not make up these prohibitions.

Check out the birth rates among the devout. Infidels are in for a long miserable ride before the escape to Mars.

If you were evacuating a tiny element of Earth's population, why would you bring along any delusionals? Surviving will be tough enough without sectarian nonsense.

OTOH, if I were one of those delusionals - and especially if I ran a TV Megachurch - I could see raising lots of money from the people I've fooled to build a private space program to remove the elect from harm and populate Mars (or wherever) for God. When things start getting bad, I expect to see that happen.

Religion isn't going anywhere.

As far as the answer to the meme, it's that Gene Roddenbury was an atheist and he was writing of a utopian future and in his utopian future everyone believes the same things he does.

That can't be right. Why does Christian America take orders from the Jewish State of Israel, then?
Because we want them to feel secure enough to take over the Temple Mount so they will rebuild the temple and user in the apocalypse. The world's largest religion at over 30% needs its smaller father faith to sacrifice itself because God is constantly needed human help for some reason. It's a very reasonable policy. o_O

Not even close. Monotheism, the 10 commandments and law itself all came from other sources first. In the context you reference mainly Egyptian. Judaism is a composit of Egyptian, Canaanite and other Mesopotamian faiths assembled over centuries into a coherent faith. Carleton Heston and Cecil B DeMille were not making a documentary.

Some of the vitriolic language I've heard from the recent troubles over the Temple Mount is pretty impressively offensive and hate-filled. KKK and Nazis would be proud. Vermin desecrating holy places and similar talk.

What are you implying?

I have always found this to be weird. For people to believe in God, and think he can do literally anything, but at the same time think that he needs help?
Thankful for sectarian conflict. If the Prods didn't hate the Catholics and the Sunnis hate the Shiia, one of those gods might get powerful enough to cause serious trouble. Fortunately the fragmentation of faith keeps any particular god from getting powerful enough to rule the others.

So let it be written
So let it be done

If I were president, I'd be tempted to end cabinet meetings with that.

There are multiple theological problems with this view of the end of times. The fact that people can affect it is one of many.
