I know the fun of this site is watching all of the crazy overreacting after anything.
Trying to think through expectations for this year and it strikes me the team has so far underperformed. Did people here expect Iowa to have to fight for a 3rd or 4th place finish in conference? I’d say in the summer we mostly assumed that 3rd or 4th place was worst case with this team?
so let’s think through expectations more. We can’t win the B1G (and the BTT doesn’t count unless you’re a Cyclone fan). If the team bows out in the sweet 16 or earlier that’s also kind of a disappointment too based on what posters here assumed would happen. So it’s elite 8 or bust in some ways? I’m personally just enjoying watching the team this season but I think if most Iowa fans were honest they’d say the results to date are worse than expected originally (albeit better than expected only 3 weeks ago).

Great W by the Hawks in Cbus! Loved seeing the attacking offense and aggressive defense. Joe T had the game of the day as far as I’m concerned. He set up so many guys with baskets and played terrific D. That is the team we want to see week in and week out.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect, I did expect the defensive effort to be stronger earlier in the year, It does seem the switch has finally been tripped, If the same intensity had been applied all year I do think it would be worth 2 or 3 wins, I also think CJ being fully healthy would have been beneficial in the win column.
While winning the conference title would have been great, I do think the NCAA tourney is where the season will ultimately be judged, I agree that anything less than elite 8 will feel like another what could have been year.
