WE STUNK! That’s about it. LOL

Did not go back to re-watch a lot of what happened exactly, just enough to get the stats.

Despite the final score and everything else, our defense did play well enough to win today. Offense just couldn’t get anything going…….at all. The defense was eventually gassed.

Running on 1st down was not the issue. Stats below.

We got whipped on both sides of the ball. No shit I know.

At the beginning, Holly Rowe says Nate Stanley stuck with his commitment vice going to his childhood team. Could have swore Nate Stanley said he wasn’t ever a really big Wisconsin fan.

When Anthony Nelson got called for offsides in the 1st quarter, you could hear the Hawk fans booing.

Josh Jackson, holy cow. He’s almost solidified 1st team all-american I would think. Fitzpatrick of Bama will be there but who knows what position he will be there at.

I know we have some people that see a graphic on the screen like we did deep into the 3rd quarter and want to throw a remote through the TV. Some want to cuss. I just couldn’t help but laugh. When they showed Josh Jackson has 95 yards of Interception returns for TD’s and Iowa’s offense has 14 yards. I couldn’t help but laugh.

Last week nothing could go wrong, this week nothing could go right other than Josh Jackson. We had as many drops as we did yards after catch.

Sorry, no plays to go back over. It was too brutal.

The true stat is that we continue to run into 8 man fronts, too many receivers should be 1on 1, play calling adjustments need to be made. We run into more 8-9 man fronts than anybody in the country.

Thanks, those are interesting stats and I'll leave it at that. One question- was Fants drop on the overthrow or was there another? If it was the overthrow I'd consider that uncatchable.

Wow great analysis. I was at game and I thought the difference in the game was that bucky contained the run on first down. No big runs.

I watched the first half last night and wow did our Line look lost on offense. There were several plays where there was at least 1 guy standing around looking for someone to block. The 3-4 is tough to defend and it has caused Iowa's OLINE trouble for years.

On some of our run plays our line was running past the DL or LB's trying to get to the next level and that guy ended up making the tackle or assisting. I don' know what their scheme was vs the 3-4 but it did not work yesterday. I think you saw a young Oline come back to earth.

With any young player you see games like this. They have highs and lows and unfortunately Iowa had their line, QB, WR's all have bad games. Hopefully they will come back next week and finish off the season on a 2 game win streak.

The pass to Fant was high but it was very catchable. The pass after that was low and behind Easley but it would have been for a 1st down as well. Easley caught 2 for 1st downs last week that were tougher catches. Fant caught a TD last week that was tougher than the one against Wisconsin.

The next play after those 2 drops was the fumble they returned for a TD.

Fant made poor effort on his ball, but it was thrown on a line and it would have been a very tough catch. Maybe Hockensen makes that catch, not Fant. Stanley needs to put more air on these type passes.

Easley has a lot of drops this season. He's made some nice catches to make it up, but a lot of the drops have been critical. Disappointing.

All that pales to not being able to run block.

Ultimately going 1-1 against OSU and Wisconsin is not a bad outcome. Most of us would have taken that if offered ahead of time. Just weird to go from oh so high, to oh so low. If we are good enough to blow out OSU, shouldn't we have been able to go toe-to-toe with Wisconsin?

That was the only "drop" by Fant. It was another case of Stanley throwing a laser when he should have put air under the ball. I hope he doesn't throw a single hard pass all offseason after this year. Just hundreds of thousands of touch passes from January to September. He's only starting this early because Iowa had no upper classmen capable of playing, apparently. Weird, because I thought Weigers was highly rated out of high school. Iowa develops OL (used to, anyway), TEs, RBs, LBs, and CBs pretty well, but not QBs or WRs.

Yet, because Wisconsin only rushes 4 the WR were seemingly all double teamed or Stanley didn't have enough time to get the throw off. It was a return to the norm for our offensive line, which just isn't good at all.

Except Penn State.
