This draft shows how good coaching staff really is

12-2. B1G championship game. 1 7th round draft pick and a top 10 national finish. Shows how solid coaching is at Iowa.
It does show the strength of coaching and it also shows the importance of culture - which is also developed and driven by the coaching staff but executed by the character of the players within the program! Love what we have going as a program!

Our best players want to stay with the team as long as possible....OSU's want to get away(and of course cash in) ASAP.
Speaks volumes for the experience they are having within the program! And also to the type of character we are recruiting - 5 Star high-character student-athletes!

The staff is very good. It's also true that the best NFL talent on the team in 2015 was also not in the senior class. The best NFL-type senior was Ott, and he wrecked his arm and his knee.

Beathard, Welsh, Kittle, King, Jewell, and Jaleel Johnson are very likely to be drafted. Other o-linemen a possibility as well. All of the other starters next year (Croston, Myers, Daniels, Boettger are possibilities. Not locks like the others, but possibilities.

Yes, the coaching and development with this group was very good. But there is talent on the roster. Fortunately for us Hawkeye fans, a lot of it is returning for 2016.

There are a lot of kids who played on last years team that will be drafted, but most will again be in Hawkeye uniforms this season.

Yea I don't agree at all with the premise of the OP. We had a monumental failure season into thousand 14, but had a bunch of guys drafted, including the top five draft pick in scherff. Some years are talent over performance, so music underperforms, some years the talent is underclassmen. We should be represented very well in next years draft.

Yeah, I agree with this. Minus all the typing errors of course. Doesn't bode well for next season.

I don't agree with your post because I couldn't understand what you were saying half the time...........

That and because you missed the point of the OP. He's talking about the job the coaching staff did this year. But I know you're one of the fans who wanted KF gone long before the 2014 season, and you probably still do and what's worse is you think you're right about it, so your comment also doesn't surprise me.

And it shows how nobody will ever beat Ohio State.

Last year was an anomaly, I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Biggest problem with OSU is they picked the right guy in Urban Meyer. Only a mistake in choosing a poor coach would keep that program down.

It has more to do with the type of talent/athlete we go after as opposed to OSU....I am completely fine with how we do things at Iowa, but lets not kid ourselves here....we would all be ok with being where OSU is at this point

Why doesn't it bode well?

Because Iowa will probably have several draft picks next year. Which, according to iowa law and some history means Iowa will have a disappointing year. Add in the fact that Iowa tends to disappoint when there are expectations, and next year should be a huge disappointment.

I should say I am being somewhat sarcastic.

And yes, the coaching staff did a great job last season.

Well didn't 5 of their guys go in the first round. That probably has something to do with it

My my what a difference a year makes. Last year at this time, the entire Iowa staff was completely incompetent and living in the dinosaur era of college football with MAC-level recruits.

You paint with a broad brush, my friend. This Hawkeye fan didn't follow that line of thinking, at all. Nada, none nyet

That's cool. You fit into the 1.5% of fans on this board last year at this time.

Does Mo Clarrett admitting he got paid do anything for the argument?
Or Troy Smith? ( I believe he was one connected with some under the table dough as well, whether he admitted it or not I don't recall, but I believe it was him that got some "green" handshakes while at fOSU).

True enough. Look at Michigan. They haven't been relevant since Lloyd Carr left.

How do you know if you don't recall if he admitted it or not?

To be fair though. Most of the talent on last years team weren't Seniors. There are several draft picks on last years team they just weren't in this years draft.
