This is a bad basketball team

Hey easy, they’re just going through some stuff.
Serious question though: does it feel like there might be some locker room drama going on or some other negativity going on for whatever reason? Some of the upperclassmen seem really out of sorts with their enthusiasm as opposed to prior years. Just my observation.

Well when you don’t play and actual pg you’ll have that. Perkins should be a 4-5 option on a team most likely a sub.
Fran better learn to live and die with Brock and get Bowen more minutes. They are the only two ball handlers/pg’s on this team.
No serious coach would play that lineup Fran put out there today.

That's an I don't have the guts to do what's right lineup.

Imagine building something for 14 years while thousands of people told you you were doing it wrong.

I really have a strong feeling this will be Fran’s last year. He will become Iowa’s winningest coach. The timing is perfect. Patrick will be gone. Jack has one more year in high school and has said he’s not coming to Iowa. There’s no question Fran us a devout family man. With all he’s been through with his family, I just think the timing is perfect to step down.

I kinda hope so. Fran has done an okay job in his time here. That said, it feels like it's time to go another direction

Agreed. Fran did a great job of pulling the program out of the grave that Lickliter dug for it... But he hasn't done much to build on it since. This is, what, his 14th year? That's a while. Unless you're coach K, you tend to wear out your welcome eventually, after that many years. A change of scenery is usually a good thing.

13+ years of the same shit .. and some fans will say Fran is the best we can do. He’s a .500 conference coach.

Every team faces roster turnover, young rosters … blah, blah… At the end of the day we have a coach who peaked at Iowa about 5 or 6 years ago. It doesn’t matter if we have the POY … or Murray brothers … or Weezy … or 10 freshmen … it’s the
S-A-M-E shit…

Agreed. I am becoming even more apathetic, and I am devout Hawkeye fan of 65+ years.
I reached apathy when Garza’s group got bounced early in the tournament. Add in NiL and all the other crap, and I stopped watching. Occasionally I might have a game on in the background but I don’t think I have watched more than 5 basketball games from start to finish in the last 3 years.

All the crap luck wore me down over almost 50 years

Not even close. They’re terrible. Kids are turning the old man out.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at all. We've seen this scenario too many times to count. MSU plays above average competition at a below average level for the first few months and start rounding into shape, entering the tourney as a mid level seed and get to the Sweet Sixteen. Just like last year. Izzo can coach.

Yep. Happens time after time.

Yep, just like I said on another thread. Michigan State has the athletes, coach, and experience that will turn their season around just in time for the tournament.

It's an iffing down year, get over it, it happens to a lot of teams now and then. If you all can't handle it, why are you watching, and then coming on this message board and reaffirming what we all know!
There isn't a bigger Hawk fan then me, I live for Iowa basketball every year and have been as disappointed as most of you for the lack of NCAA success, but I enjoy the games and I'm hoping the freshman are the beginnings of an uptick in Iowa basketball in the coming years or as long as I'm on the right side of the grass. Don't have many more years left.
