This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

THIS is what Fiona Hill is referring to. And this is coming from a former Republican strategist.

What's happening in Ukraine currently is a mess and we all need to work together to help fix it. But we CANNOT turn our back on the attitudes and the people who led us here.

Steve Schmidt is no "liberal Democrat"; he's simply a conservative who "woke up and smelled the coffee" quite a while ago, and has been willing to speak out about it.

Quit kowtowing to the @Whiskeydeltadeltatango 's of the board who cannot figure it out and will probably never figure it out. Because they're the reason things are so F***ed up right now.
Steve Schmidt is as conservative as Manchin is liberal. The biggest difference between the two is that Schmidt is a pedo. Please quit posting pedo crap in this thread.

The big point she makes is that we’ve all put our own financial interests ahead of what’s right and what will preserve rules-based society.

Going forward all politicians need to be accountable for that.

This thread is amazing and addicting. Like others have said, it’s the best source for news on the war in Ukraine. But, I have to ask, do any of you people have jobs? It‘s insane how many of you post all day/night.

I used to think this about all the HROT that happened while I was at work until I moved to a location in my employer's building that had good data reception. Lotta news some days.

Putin might have believed his own lies and thought the Ukrainians would welcome the Russians in with open arms, or that his invasion would trigger an insurrection against the Ukrainian government. It also looks like the Russians thought they could make Thunder Runs, like the US did in Baghdad, and take over that way. Of course, the dead columns of Russian equipment tell us that didn't work.
When you analyze it's almost unbelievable. They seem to have thought they could just walk in the way they did in Czechoslavakia in 1968 and maybe get their hair mussed up a bit (Thank you General "Buck" Turgidson), it would be over in a few days and they could sell the world on the Ukrainians welcoming them in and back into the arms of mother Russia.

That would of course have been bullshit that nobody would have believed, but they probably would have had the Chinese at least go for that, and probably FIFA and the IOC.

But how the hell did they (or he) think that could be pulled off even in their best case scenario? Madness. That's why I think we have to be genuinely afraid of Putin hitting the nuclear button. Dude's a nut and out-of-control. They're not "winning" anything even if they eventually occupy all of Ukraine.

Falaise Gap, anyone?
