This implies a 3:1 ratio from Ukrainian reports to actual deaths.So artillery is still queen of the battlefield.
I know we all want to believe the reported Ukrainian numbers, but even at this more conservative rate the losses are astronomical. In one year Russia has experienced the USA’s total casualty count from 20 years in Vietnam. The toll on their society will be paid for generations.
It blows my mind they are fighting trench warfare ala 1917 with todays technology. How anyone can keep their $hit together in that situation is mind bottling (wob on purpose so ease up)

I think it's because the battlefield environment makes maneuver warfare damned near impossible.
Unsupported MBT's are dead meat....limits the rate of advance to the speed infantry can advance....which makes everything WW1 like...with better weapons.

Appears Ukraine will not have a winter offensive and is taking the alleged advice of the West to wait til all those IFVs and AFVs plus some tanks and more artillery are in country and manned. Originally Ukraine thought they could take back the Crimea by the end of the summer so that may still be their thought. Appears now they are content to bleed Russia of men and equipment.
