This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Great recap of the war on MSNBC tonight. Joe S has had quite a few big names in the Biden Administration on, with Lloyd Austin up next.
I did learn one thing, or maybe I had forgotten, we started pushing large numbers of Javelines and Stingers to Ukraine in September of 2021 when the intelligence started to limit towards a Russian invasion.

The second key lesson of the Ukraine war is that the West’s militaries were not ready for it. For all the attention paid to Germany’s decision about sending its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, the lion’s share of military aid to Ukraine was provided by the United States. The perception that this assistance has undercut American readiness for conflicts elsewhere is a key factor in waning support for the war effort among some Republicans, which may prove to be a significant factor in determining the conflict’s course this year and next. The harsh reality, however, is that the U.S. defense industry would not be ready for a conflict in Asia even without the diversion of materiel to Ukraine — recent war games suggest the U.S. would run out of precision-guided munitions within just a few weeks of such a war.

1. Write your goofball congressman and tell him to put America first instead of being a grifter.
2. I don't know besides some insane move by North Korea into South Korea where we face a credible threat right now? China is not able to project into Taiwan. They could start a blockade, but Xi would be very vulnerable to economic sanctions. The West is getting by without Russian energy. We can get by without cheap consumer goods made in China.

This is very clearly an idealogical struggle.

Russia is run by a murderous gangster. Ukrainians don’t want to be run by the murderous gangster or a puppet of the murderous gangster.

The fact that so many GOP do not understand this saddens me deeply. They don’t understand how insane they sound.

When they say “No money for Ukraine, no fighter jets for Ukraine!”

I picture the shit for brains in France in 1775 saying “No money & no assistance to the Colonists!”

There is no difference between those French obstructionists and today’s Putin loving GOP members that oppose aid.

Reagan knew Russia was the Evil Empire. When did these GOP’rs forget that?

Well, it has officially been one year (using the Ukrainian time zone) since the start of the invasion. I believe I have read all 47,620 posts in this thread and am the better for it. There is much to reflect on over the past year. Ukrainian bravery, Russian atrocities, acts of kindness and acts of desperation.

In the end, for me the main message is simply this:

F*ck Putin and Slava Ukraini

Nah, it’s that some of them hate Democrats so much that they’re unwilling to align with them on anything.

This too but these two fat fuks, and the many others who think like them, didn’t need blackmail or payoffs to be all in with the enemy. They were long since led astray by their hate of the other and brainwashed relentlessly for decades.

Long AP story based on intercepts of Russian soldiers calling home. Circle back to this if you don't have a few minutes to read it. There's a lot of good stuff in here to help you understand how mismanaged the Russian effort has been, the mentality of the Russian soldiers, the reasons for looting, the massive disinformation campaign to justify the war, and the rank stupidity of how Ukrainian bio labs..., well, you know...

I think Maxim's mom is a poster here:

Mother: “They even found all these papers with signatures from the U.S. all over Ukraine. Biden’s son is the mastermind behind all of this.”
