Putin is pushing for a political solution now that the war is going so badly for Russia, and his economy is in tatters. His dream is the status quo plus Bakhmut.
It's coming down to mobilised Russians assaulting fortified Ukrainian positions with shovels.
That doesn't seem sustainable.
Hopefully Ukraine sent their best pupils for f16 evaluations…

And the fascinating part is this whole war is truly about Russia having to expand due to a population decline crisis. This was written about and discussed before millions of Russians fled prewar and now the killing and maiming of hundreds of thousands of their young men. And also much lower pregnancy and births during war due to stress and lack of men. The numbers will be even more dire now since expansion is not happening now.

So in addition to destroying Army and outing them as a paper tiger, Putin also has made much worse the demographic crisis he was obsessed with that caused all this.
This was always part of their plan: relo the populations from Ukraine into Russia, including all the Ukrainian orphans they've kidnapped.

Add to this that spring offensive post mud season will include the upgraded NATO equipment and you really might see a dramatic collapse of war front and loss by years end. I really think they may reclaim all borders. Russia has almost no army left and the native supporters in East Ukraine and Crimea are evaporating and switching sides.

These posts make me feel better. I was starting to feel like things weren’t going Ukraine’s way with the articles about bahkmut and there being more Russians than munitions to kill them.

Turkey is conveniently ignoring its own ban on the movement of military goods through Istanbul. Instead of trusting them to do their part maybe we just sail a convoy into the Black Sea and blockade any sanctioned vessel ourselves while ensuring grain and other shipments make it safely the other way. This will save lives and shorten the war.

Oleksandr Marchenko told CNN that defending soldiers are prevented from reaching residents by Russian attacks.
He said: "The enemy is striking the city with everything they can. There is no way we can get there.”
It is believed there are between 4,000 and 4,500 civilians left in the city, which has been largely destroyed after intense fighting. Mr Marchenko said there were four medical workers remaining.
