It's insane how quickly Russia is going to get to 200k from the first 100k. They truly don't care.
It’s incredible given that they’re bordering on demographic collapse as it is. The population of Russia is lower today than it was in 1992. It’s also older with a higher mortality rate.

Here’s the worst part, the rural population that he’s killing off in this war were the only ones with a halfway decent fertility rate: 1.83 compared with the urban population at 1.2.

Russians love to say how they “won” WW2, but they sacrificed 26+ million people for those territorial gains. They never fully recovered from that.

Usually my concerns on population go the other way. We really don't need more people on the planet as we are rapidly depleting resources as it is. However, losing his rural center is going to be harmful especially if long term sanctions could deny food sources. I truly don't know all the sanctions and how they impact Russia but they have to be doing something...
 
When it comes to gender differences, the Soviet male population fell from 94 million in 1941, to 74 million in 1946, and the female population fell from 102 to 96 million.
