Does them joining the EU do anything to help the current situation?
Exactly why essentially take the risk of throwing them away or worse giving them to Russia.

Maybe it is getting to risky at this point. Don't want to have them all shot down or have no place to land or sitting targets. Need a lot of infrastructure and folks to support them and rearm them...

Here's a solution for you, Boris (and Western World):
- Collect up oligarchs and their families.
- Put them on "disposable" planes, in small groups
- Notify Putin they are on their way
- Fly them INTO the Ukrainian cities that Putin is bombarding
- Wish them luck
Once a few oligarchs see others AND their families getting blown to bits, it will amp up the pressure on the rest to clean up their little Putin Mess inside Russia.
Every other country should follow suit. FIND them, arrest them and send them into the battle zones. If Putin wants to ensure their safety, THAT IS FULLY ON HIM to stand his forces down.
EDIT: And start sending US and Western military to other Western havens they are hiding in. Scoop them up, fly them from a Polish airport into Kharkiv or wherever. Make SURE those planes heading in are avoiding active combat zones as best as possible. Let the Russian military and Putin figure out how to keep them alive.

Is it possible that there’s some covert operations involving militaries that aren’t Ukraine’s going on behind the scenes? There’s been some pictures floating around this past week of special ops units with heavily upgraded weaponry that could support the theory. It might just be wishful thinking on my part too.

Yes. I had been hearing before the war we had some very special people there and assume other NATO folks had sent them too. We or Ukraine just can't say as much. I am sure they are wearing Ukraine gear and have no IDs
