China threatening trade/financial sanctions on Russia would be game over, IMHO.
But Russia didn’t invade any countries at the time. Made more sense to do that deal. This time we can’t let them win anything of significance.
If Russia goes down swinging the world becomes the US vs China with Russia being an after thought. Would seem to be pretty foolish to move quickly when they could just sit back and acquire "chips".

I am fine with China coming in to help. Clearly they are motivated by their own economic interests, but it's nice if they can help. Cease fire should translate into, "Organized Russian withdrawal from all Ukrainian territory", though.

It that is an actual photo of the unit, this could explain Russia's problem - check out how muddy the terrain is there. Someone had a military relative who was guessing part of that column's problem was the mud and this would seem to back that up.
