This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Also in that article.

"The officials’ sombre tone was clearly designed to lower expectations of a transformative breakthrough. However they nevertheless insisted the counteroffensive was “going in the right direction” and the losses were not unexpected."
Sadly, meat grinders gonna meat grind, no matter how much wishful thinking you apply on a message board.

Today's Post front page projected in their lobby struck a similar tone.

"On 14 June, Ukrainian forces continued advances in the south and east, establishing control over Russian positions while intensifying attacks on multiple fronts, as Russian counterattacks faltered and faced criticism from within. Meanwhile, Ukrainian HIMARS rocket launchers knock out Russian artillery and reserves."

Day 476: 14 June

Ukrainian forces continued successfully advancing in all main directions. Yesterday, I told you that Levadne might very soon become the main axis of advance, and today Russian sources confirmed that after demining the field and conducting small reconnaissance-in-force operations, Ukrainians launched a much bigger attack. Russian sources reported that Ukrainians are advancing not only eastward but also southward and that today Ukrainian assault units established control over multiple Russian positions in the tree lines.

Ukrainian forces are also ramping up the intensity of the attacks in the direction of Rivnopil. On 14 June, Russian sources reported that Ukrainians assaulted this settlement with up to five tanks and five armored fighting vehicles. This combination of attacks aims to even out the front line and set the conditions for a broader line of advancement.

Regarding the Russian counterattack, as expected, Russian forces failed to recapture Makarivka due to the weak control over the tactical heights around this settlement. Russian sources reported that they relocated their forces from the Orikhiv front to increase the scale and potency of their counterattack and opened another direction, namely, Urozhaine. Some sources claim that the village is now in the grey zone, and the ongoing clashes do not cease because Ukrainians stubbornly continue to hold the line. To undermine Russian offensive capabilities, Ukrainian forces have deployed several HIMARS crews to the area for precise counterbattery fire. Geolocated footage showed how Ukrainians destroyed five Russian artillery systems.

Something to watch I think.

"Nine drones attacked temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea, and six were allegedly shot down during the night and morning on 15 June. Several houses on the peninsula were damaged – according to Crimea’s so-called “chairman,” Sergey Aksyonov.

Puzzled Russians on the peninsula wondered how this was possible after Putin’s claim that the Kremlin had destroyed the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.

"Nine UAVs were detected over the territory of the Republic of Crimea overnight and morning: Six UAVs were shot down by air defense forces, three were jammed and landed by REB means. One drone detonated in the Krasnogvardeysky district, Dokuchaievo village. There were no casualties; windows in a number of houses were broken," he reported on his Telegram channel.

Crimean residents react with panic-stricken gifs and logically wonder about the inconsistency between the number of drones in the message of the so-called Crimean governor and Kremlin puppet Aksyonov."

"Israel is in talks to sell used Merkava tanks to two countries, including one in Europe, in what would be the first such export of the armored vehicle, a Defense Ministry official says.

Speaking to the Calcalist financial paper, Yair Kulas, the head of the ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate — known as SIBAT — says his unit is advancing more sales of surplus equipment from the Israel Defense Forces.

“There is a potential of several hundred million shekels there. The world is chasing systems, and production processes require time, and not everyone has the time to wait,” Kulas says."

There's no better tank for urban warfare than the Merkava Mk 4 Main Battle Tank. Incredible piece of machinery

"The announcement by Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States coincided with a meeting in Brussels of the US-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group -- some 50 nations that are supporting Kyiv militarily.

"Working with our international partners we are able to provide vital air defence equipment, which will help Ukraine support offensive operations and protect critical national infrastructure," UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said.

The latest supplies will help Kyiv fend off Russia's "brazen missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian cities", the four allies said in a joint statement.

"The initiative will deliver hundreds of short and medium range air defence missiles and associated systems required to protect Ukraine's critical national infrastructure and further ensure the success of counter-offensive operations in coming months," they said"

I'll get excited if Turkey promises they won't sell them to Russia
I imagine Turkey will have the same restrictions as the rest of NATO-I was imagining these flying near Russia's border and sending mini cruise missiles deep into their guts:)

"The transfer of a division of Bal coastal missile systems to Bryansk Oblast in Russia by the Russians is a sign of a deficit in missile armament in Russia. The Ukrainian forces will respond accordingly to the new threats.

Source: Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force of Ukraine, during an online briefing and the joint national 24/7 newscast

Quote: "There was information about the transfer of one division of the Bal coastal missile systems to Bryansk Oblast in Russia. The missiles these systems are equipped with are modernised,Kh-35U, and according to the characteristics provided by the Russians, they have an increased range.

The Russians claim that these missiles have a 500-km range, but I still think this is an overestimation. We cannot say for sure, but it likely has a 260 km range (so the northern, central or eastern oblasts of Ukraine may be under threat)."
