This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Hoping those in the know can chime in and set the record straight.

I was watching a video about the war and it was opined that Russia is not using their top class weapons . Reason being if they are used and fail they will not be able to sell those weapons to other countries to support their military industrial complex in the future.

True?

Haven’t heard that before….l would lean “mostly” false.

Russia doesn't have a lot of top class weapons. They have some T-14's and SU-57's they've hyped the shit out of, but they cannot produce them in number and even if they could they are way behind western tech.

The SU-57 is supposed to be some kind of counter to the F-22. The F-22 is 1990s tech. Only took them 20 years to build a half assed counter that would get rolled by an F-22. The F-35 has already, what, 1000 units built and it is much more capable of detecting and shooting down a Felon before the Felon even knows it is there. There are maybe 75 at best SU-57's and how many are even combat ready is a question. There is a reason they aren't flying over airspace monitored by Patriots with them. They're scared their tech will be exposed and idiots won't buy it.

I believe that potential future/current buyers can see what buying orc wares gets you. Sub standard weaponry in today’s world.
If russky had better gear, it would be seen on the battlefield.
Who would buy russky “top class” weaponry without seeing it produce vs. the old Soviet shit that the Ukes are relying on?

False. More Kremlin lies.

This makes the most sense to me.

In reading about recent meetings between Russia and China...and now between Blinken and China, China must really feel like they're sitting in the "catbird seat".

Both Russia and Merica need China to not necessarily support them, but rather not be against them.

Unfortunately, Xi really is increasingly China's influence.

Agree, although I have been perplexed by most Russian thought regarding this war. I do think Putin is in a desperate enough situation that few effective weapons would be left on the sidelines.
The Russian Air Force is a case in point....they seem to be still reluctant to fully commit it. That's the only area I think Russia is holding anything back IMO...

Another day of 1000 parents not having children coming home. I can't believe there isn't more internal strife in Russia than we hear about.

If the numbers reported are accurate that would equate to 0.6% of the male population between the ages of 15-54 KIA in less than 1.5 years. Even if we divide Ukrainian estimates by 3 it’s a shockingly large percentage. So I tend to agree - it is surprising.

But I also think we underestimate the level of fatalism in the Russian national psyche - especially in the rural villages which have a disproportionate number of kids serving as cannon fodder. This is a group that went straight from being feudal serfs to being oppressed under decades of communism. Unfortunately I doubt there is an American dream equivalent if you are born in rural f*ckistan Siberia.

This. The Russians expect to be abused...it's burned into the national pysche...

In January, a spokeswoman of the Ukroboronprom State Enterprise reported that a new classified Ukrainian strike drone has successfully passed a number of tests.

“A number of successful tests are behind us. We moved on to tests under the influence of EW effects, and these tests are also over,” Nataliia Sad reported.

The tests were conducted according to the order of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Boldyrev, manager at Ukroboronprom, shared that this aircraft is heavy, with a takeoff weight of over 200 kg.

The new product meets the objectives that Valerii Zaluzhnyi outlined to manufacturers in early August. The drone will have a return function, so it will be able to attack targets several times.

"June 20 (Reuters) - Four people were killed on Tuesday by an explosion at a Russian gunpowder factory, state news agencies said, but an official was quick to rule out the possibility it was caused by an attack.

The blast happened at a plant in the Tambov region, about 400 km (250 miles) southeast of Moscow. Eight people were injured in the incident, the RIA news agency said.

Parts of south and western Russia are on high alert following a spate of attacks that Moscow blames on Ukraine, particularly on war-related targets such as fuel supplies and weapons stores."
