This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Ukraine war updates: U.S. reportedly urges Kyiv to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries; Ukraine receives overseas assistance after energy grid hit

Washington urged Kyiv to cease drone strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, cautioning that the attacks risk driving up global oil prices, the FT reported Friday.

Election year :(

On a related note. Europe is still buying Russian oil....they just get it through India. At a jacked up price.

The Biden administration continues to sacrifice Ukraine for political expediency. Thousands of Ukrainians die and their cities continue to be destroyed while we worry about gas prices. Maybe a dictator wanna be like trump wouldn't be so bad-NATO would have known up front they were on their own instead of finding it out over the course of years as we delayed major weapons systems that could have really helped - ATACMS, modern jet fighters, and sending a few more than the 31 of over 10,000 ( !) Abrams tanks we possess. As Russia goes for Ukraine's jugular we try to stop Ukraine from attacking Russia's main weakness-their oil industry.

Has anyone else had the thought that those artillery rounds Czechs have found are our surplus ones (about the same 1.4 million) and Biden is either trying to raise money for Ukraine by sending them this way or is even afraid to just to send them as it may be an escalation-LOL.

It used to be that I daydreamed about asking Republicans what Putin's dick tastes like. Now I add to that asking Biden's administration what it feels like up their asses.
(Only about submissiveness not being Gay.)

Obama’s theory here is simple: Ukraine is a core Russian interest but not an American one, so Russia will always be able to maintain escalatory dominance there.

“The fact is that Ukraine, which is a non-nato country, is going to be vulnerable to military domination by Russia no matter what we do,” he said.

I asked Obama whether his position on Ukraine was realistic or fatalistic.

“It’s realistic,” he said. “But this is an example of where we have to be very clear about what our core interests are and what we are willing to go to war for. And at the end of the day, there’s always going to be some ambiguity.”
*****

Today [Feb 16-18, 2024] only 28 percent of Americans favor sending US troops to Ukraine to help the Ukrainian government defend itself against Russia, including a third or less of Democrats (35%), Independents (26%), and Republicans (21%).

Though once again, foreign policy is too important to be left to the population. During WW2 most Americans only wanted to fight Japan because of Pearl Harbor, while the military and government knew Germany was the real threat.

I think it’s too important to be left to the neocons.
Why can’t 30 years of wars and failures count against the counsel of these imbecile warmongers?

Seems like Ukraine has had some success using drones to take out Russian oil and natural gas production facilities. It also seems the Biden Administration has slapped Ukraine down because they are worried about global oil and gas prices rising as a result.

That and trying to hold back world opinion from going against Ukraine for a variety of issues.

Kiev and other cities got hit really hard in retaliation couple days ago.
