Lol. Their defense industrial base wasn’t battered by war, it’s been battered by the fact that Ukraine has long been recognized as one of the most corrupt countries on earth.

They’re involved in human trafficking, money laundering, arms dealing, drug trade; you name it and they’re most likely neck deep in it.

Little Twinkletoes Zelenskyy isn’t changing any of that…it’s pure grift.

Sure thing, sheepdip. Don’t believe I’ve ever posted anything here from MTG, let alone from Twitter.

And just last week I called her crude and ignorant over her behavior in congress.

Try again you partisan little hack.

Interesting stuff from Italy. Satellite imagery suggests that Italy is moving older Leopard tanks, M113 APCs, and M109 self propelled howitzers out of long term storage. Where will it go? The tanks are an older variant, but some might be useable after refurbishment. The M113 and M109 would be highly prized by the Ukrainians.
Italy was criticized earlier on for providing equipment that was in poor repair, so are they making amends with new deliveries?

Gasprom lost $6.9 billion in 2023. The $180 mil to steady prices and supply was a like pissing in the ocean.

Just imagine what their 2024 income statement will look like with all of the infrastructure costs to repair and replace the refineries that Ukraine is currently shit canning on a daily basis.

The point is the American government is STILL doing business with the Russian government. Nobody gives a F*** about the citizens of Ukraine or American citizens either.

They’re enriching themselve, first and always

And laughing at partisan bootlickers like you all the way to the bank.

You think I somehow enjoy that we are involved with the Russian government? I wish we weren’t but I’m not arrogant enough to assume there is some easy answer here.

There is an easy answer. Make your foreign policy align with George Washington instead of a Donald Trump or a Joe Biden.

Let Europe deal with Russia and Ukraine. Let Israel and the ME deal with Hamas.

100+ years of the US meddling in foreign countries has been an absolute disaster.

You people are funny. Been hysterically screaming for two years now that the Russians are going to move on all of Europe if Zelenskyy doesn’t get enough money and weapons from us but now everything is super peaceful?

🤣

You’re not a serious person. I have no problem talking with people with differing views but this constant twisting of people’s words into something else is just poor form. Peace out my guy.

Ukraine’s Zelenskyy pushes allies to step up aid and involvement in war

“Every decision to which we, then later everyone together, comes to is late by around one year,” said Zelenskyy.

Western allies are taking too long to make key decisions on military support for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Reuters in an exclusive interview in Kyiv on Monday.

He also said he was pushing partners to get more directly involved, opens new tab in the war by helping to intercept Russian missiles over Ukraine and allowing Kyiv to use Western weapons against enemy military equipment amassing near the border.

The call to accelerate aid and push so-called “red lines” of engagement in the conflict reflect the growing pressure Zelenskyy’s forces are under along more than 1,000 km of front lines in the northeast, east and south of the country.

An impassioned Zelenskyy, dressed in his familiar khaki T-shirt and trousers, said the situation on the battlefield was “one of the most difficult” he had known since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

In recent weeks Moscow’s troops have made incursions into northeastern Ukraine, further testing Kyiv’s already stretched defenses. At the same time, Russia has taken territory in the eastern Donbas region in sometimes fierce battles.

“A very powerful wave (of fighting) is going on in Donbas ... No-one even notices that there are actually more battles in the east of the country, specifically in the Donbas direction: Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Chasiv Yar.”

He added, however, that the situation north of Kharkiv was now “under control.”

The 46-year-old was speaking on the fifth anniversary of his inauguration as president. He has not contested elections because of martial law imposed due to the invasion.

Zelenskyy called again for faster military aid from the United States and other partners. Weapons and ammunition from a recently passed U.S. package is now arriving in Ukraine, but it was delayed for months by internal political wrangling.

“Every decision to which we, then later everyone together, comes to is late by around one year,” said Zelenskyy.

“But it is what it is: one big step forward, but before that two steps back. So we need to change the paradigm a little bit.”

Risk of escalation?

Zelenskyy said he wanted his partners to be more directly involved in the war, but understood they were wary of antagonizing Russia.

“It’s a question of will,” he said. “But everyone says a word that sounds the same in every language: everyone is scared of escalation. Everyone has gotten used to the fact that Ukrainians are dying — that’s not escalation for people.”

He proposed that the armed forces of neighboring NATO countries could intercept incoming Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory to help Kyiv protect itself.

Russia has fired thousands of missiles and drones at Ukraine since the start of the wider conflict, and air defenses are a priority for Kyiv.

“Russians are using 300 planes on the territory of Ukraine. We need at least 120, 130 planes to resist in the sky,” he said. Ukraine is waiting for the delivery of U.S.-designed F-16s which have yet to be used in anger.

He said that if countries could not supply the planes straight away, they could still fly them from neighboring NATO states and shoot down Russian missiles.

The Ukrainian leader also said Kyiv was negotiating with international partners to use their weapons to strike Russian military hardware at the border and further inside Russian territory.

“So far, there is nothing positive,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin would likely view such developments as escalatory.

He casts the war as part of an existential battle with a declining and decadent West which he says humiliated Russia after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 by encroaching on what he considers Moscow’s sphere of influence, including Ukraine.

Ukraine and the West reject such an interpretation, calling the invasion an unprovoked land grab.

Zelenskyy reiterated that he had not broken agreements with allies not to use their weapons inside Russia.

“We can’t put the whole volume of weapons at risk.”

International stage

Ukraine is gearing up for international talks in Switzerland next month that will exclude Russia and are aimed at trying to unify and harden opinion against Moscow.

Putin has said he believes the talks may convert Ukrainian demands for a Russian withdrawal into an ultimatum for Russia, a strategy he said would fail.

Zelenskyy said it was crucial to get as many countries around the table as possible.

“And then Russia will have to answer to the majority of the world, not Ukraine. ... No-one says that tomorrow Russia will agree, but it is important that we have the initiative.”

Beijing has yet to say whether it will participate, although Chinese President Xi Jinping and Putin met last week in China and pledged a “new era” of partnership between the two most powerful rivals of the United States.

“It is very important that they (China) are there,” said Zelenskiy. “Because in principle, after this summit, it becomes clear who wants to end the war, and who wants to remain in strong relations with the Russian Federation.”

On U.S. politics, he sought to dampen concerns that any win for Republican candidate Donald Trump in November elections could spell trouble for Ukraine. Trump is a Ukraine aid skeptic who has stressed “America First” policies.

“I don’t believe that Republicans are against support for Ukraine, but some messages that are coming from their side raise concerns.”

Zelenskyy, a former comedian, said he would let others judge his performance as leader of a country at war, but he expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian people for their stoicism in the face of adversity.

He also insisted that Ukraine could still win the war, despite setbacks in recent months.

“I think we need to walk this path to the end, preferably a victorious one,” he said. “Even though today people look somewhat sceptically at the word ‘victory’ — I understand it is difficult, because it is long.”

Russia-Ukraine war live: Ukraine ‘urgently’ needs more air defences against ‘rain of Russian missiles’, says German minister

Annalena Baerbock says situation in Ukraine has ‘dramatically deteriorated’ as Volodymyr Zelenskiy calls for Nato states to help intercept Russian missiles

Ukraine urgently needs to boost its air defences in the face of relentless Russian attacks, Germany’s foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, warned as she arrived in Kyiv.

Her unannounced visit came as more than two dozen Russian drones targeted Ukraine overnight, in a reported attack that left several people injured in the eastern Kharkiv region.

“The situation in Ukraine has once more dramatically deteriorated with the massive Russian aerial attacks on civilian infrastructure, and the brutal Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region,” Baerbock said.

To protect itself from the “rain of Russian drones and missiles”, Ukraine “urgently needs a boosted air defence”, she said.

“Our support is based on the deep conviction that Ukraine will win this war,” Baerbock added.

They need to be able to use our weapons in Russia-especially on their bombers.

And I am all for NATO stepping in to provide direct air DEFENSE. **** Russia, they won’t do shit. Shooting down missiles and drones and glide bombs launched by the world’s largest state sponsor of terror is not escalation.

I think if NATO provided air defense for cities while Ukraine moved their assets forward it would be very helpful. NATO countries could get involved but not really put their troops at risk and sell it as effort to limit civilian casualties.

Unfortunately with elections coming up basically everywhere in the "west" it'd be a tough sell.

That's the problem western democracies always have...politics.

Agree. Even putting some troops on ground in key rear positions like Kyiv and Odessa might actually hasten peace. Russia would then know there is no chance ever for winning. They are massively depleted and could ill afford nato response. Side bar and related, this war has truly shown the UN might as well be shut down. Would have been perfect setting for peace keeping troops.

The UN....

1. The security council has Russia and China on it.

2. If it went to the general assembly the measure wouldn't go through because over half the world is bought off by China/Russia

The only thing the UN is good at is providing humanitarian aid, pretty useless in addressing wars etc...

Taking out supply lines 100 miles inside the Russian border is not escalation.
Destroy the roads and rails. War is over in 3 months if you starve the Russian front lines of troops and supplies/munitions.

No half-measures. Get it done immediately.

Yesterday was Zelenskyy’s last official day in office, but since he declared martial law 2 years ago “…voters' security cannot be ensured during the full-scale invasion.” I mean, war-torn Kyev is safe enough for A. Blinken to perform at a local club but it’s definitely not safe enough for voters to make their voices heard.

Zelenskyy basically appointed himself president for life. Sounds kind of Trumpian, huh?

Ukrainian officials watched for weeks as the Russians massed near the Ukrainian border, unable to use U.S.-supplied weapons to conduct a preemptive strike due to Washington’s policy. The Biden administration, as a condition of sending the long-range weapons to Ukraine, said they could not be used to strike inside Russian territory.

Explain how you hold a democratic vote under bombardment. Explain how soldiers are to vote from the front lines. Explain how citizens of the occupied regions are to vote. You're a moron.
