This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

(Burnt and bloody bodies.)

Edit - longer version.

Their front line stuff is aging Russian stuff. This should calm the fears when every couple of months Lukashenko implies they will attack from the north in order to keep Ukraine wary, thereby tying up needed troops. Not to discount a northern invasion, but Belarus isn't getting involved. Lukashenko knows he is overthrown as soon as he intervenes.

Stolen from Twitter:

Putin, after 10 days of Kursk catastrophe, summons Stalin’s ghost
Stalin: “What’s happened?”
Putin: “Nazis are at Kursk! My army is beaten! What should I do?”
Stalin: “Do like me 1943. Send best Ukrainian troops to the front, and ask the US for arms!”

My impression is that they look like they may have returned from the battle-towing other equipment with flat tire and one tank pulling another, the crew looking sweaty and dirty.

"Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups entered the territory of the Belovsky district in Russia's Kursk region overnight on Aug. 11, head of the district, Nikolai Volobuev, claimed.

The Ukrainian military launched the incursion across the border on Aug. 6. Kyiv has so far maintained a policy of silence on the incursion, despite the ongoing fighting and Ukraine advancing deeper into Russian territory.

According to Volobuev, the group's appearance created "a lot of panic" in the Belovsky district. He described the current situation as "stable, but very tense."
The Belovsky district is located some 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Sudzha, a town in Kursk region, in less than 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the border with Ukraine. Ukrainian troops posted video footage on Aug. 9, claiming to be on the outskirts of Sudzha.

"Today we do not understand some moments in the border areas," Volobuev said in his video address on Telegram.

Alexey Smirnov, the acting governor of Kursk region, claimed that there are no clashes in Belovsky and Oboyansky districts as of morning of Aug. 11.

"Border guards and military protect the border," he added.

The Kyiv Independent could not verify these claims."

It's a seemingly small point, but notice how the Ukrainian soldiers all appear to be well supplied with decent uniforms and boots. I don't know the providence of the video, but you see guys of all ages, and a few of them are a little chunky, but they have the same uniform and functional boots. on. The Russians we see are wearing mismatched gear. Boots that look like that's what the guy was wearing while shoveling out a hog barn when the "recruiters", came to get him. Crappy running shoes. I think it's worth noting.

I think that's no small detail. It is fairly representational of this whole war and that entire corrupt country. Putin makes appearances in $10,000 dollar High Street overcoats while peasants from the Urals are given third rate Chinese crap because their commanders siphoned off OLED TV money for their dacha.

SOCOM Col. noticed someone weird loitering and taking pictures on his property. He called the police and continued to watch the guy.

Chechen guy who was supposedly working for an out-of-state utility company. The guy wasn’t wearing anything to identify himself. No notice was given. Guy was still there after dark. The Col. confronted him and there was an altercation and he shot him.

By by Chechen.
That's pretty crazy.
It seems you have to wonder about russkies tracking the guy. Glad he was able to take care of his bizness.

“According to the homeowner, Daraev became aggressive and refused to leave the property, at one point asserting that he was a Chechen national who had served in the Russian military and fought in Ukraine, although investigators have been unable to establish Daraev’s prior foreign military status,” the news release stated. “The homeowner reported that he then went to his residence and retrieved a handgun before returning to ensure his family’s safety until law enforcement arrived.”
...
Through family and co-workers, investigators discovered that Daraev was a Russian native from Chechnya who entered the U.S. across the southern border in mid-December 2022, and has since been living in Illinois, according to the sheriff’s office.

Do they have the shipyards like they used to? Honest question.
Like in the olden days, no. I have Google lurked and they built the aircraft carriers in Scotland. The most recent photos show one of them laid up in dry dock at Rosyth.
I don't think the US is in much better shape. Hopefully the Russian invasion of Ukraine and China's increasingly aggressive posture wakes some people up. With the disastrous Littoral ship fiasco pulling ships from the US fleet far earlier than planned I suspect the US Navy is going to face a ship crunch in a few years. And, our ship building capacity has dwindled to only a few shipyards.

I'd like for the Navy to be forward looking and continue develop unmanned sea drones/subs
