This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Well, looks like Trad will take the post count lead in this thread over the weekend even after giving everyone else a 200 page head start.

Pretty sure Joe had that wrapped up after like... page 10. I had to put him on ignore so I didn't develop arthritis.

Could it be the Russian communications are so bad not all thier troops know there was a cease fire?

Or it could be Putin is just a lying prick.

Probably a little bit of both. With how inept Russia's military has been so far, it wouldn't be surprising to me if they were fighting blind at this point.

That and Putin is a lying piece of shit... it was alluded to earlier in this thread, he's probably trying to use this to get provisions to the front lines.

That’s what NATO could do in the country. Evacuate Ukrainian civilians. Don’t have to fire bullets,

Because this is a better outcome for Ukraine than guaranteed neutrality?
You can't have "guatanteed neutrality," that's absurd. Who is going to guarantee it, and with what? So we "guarantee" Ukraine's sovereignty, and Russia invades again. Then what? We fight Russia? And anyway, the US, UK, and Russia ALREADY guaranteed Ukraine's sovereignty and security, in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, YFRS, and look what happened to them. We "guaranteed" their security, but not fighting for them. The only "guaranteed" security they'll ever get is by joining NATO.

@HawkFan1298 why did you like the Russian stooge @seminole97 post that blames the west and Ukraine for this war? This is the Kremlin’s rationale for invading and ethnically cleansing its neighbor.

It also has the hashtag #istandwithrussia for ****s sake!

NO! I unequivocally do NOT stand with Russia.

"guaranteed neutrality" means putting another Putin puppet/oligarch in charge.

That's the ONLY acceptable outcome for him; no 'self rule' for Ukraine. Only servitude and corruption.

All of the EU is basically different degrees of socialism, so no.
Not really socialism, but social democracies.

But the point is spot-on. Just because there are social safety-nets in place doesn't lead to autocracy. Those people in the Nordic countries have voting rights and representation, and are (by surveys) some of the happiest people on Earth.

Autocracy happens when people lose their right to vote or lose their right to have their vote properly counted. EXACTLY what is happening in the United States right now - led by one political party that has it's hands full of Putin cash. And that ain't a coincidence.

EDIT: Autocracies and oligarchies ALSO happen when rule of law is undermined, and there aren't any oversight functions or controls over government leaders and institutions. And I'm sure most here can recall which politicians and political party was all about retaliating against "whistleblowers". That is PRECISELY what will take you down the road to autocracy. But the posters who cheerlead this shit seem to not be capable of connecting those dots.
