This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

It wouldn't surprise me if this is exactly what is happening. Global commerce must not be impaired.
There’s the real prospect of lives being lost and the destruction, as well.
War is all about driving a devils bargain.
If you think of the imagery that has come from the Chechen Wars, and this month from Ukraine, Putin is taking a Hulagu Khan / Sherman / LeMay approach to war.

That’s why Macron’s head is in his hands.

Lives will continue to be lost, in much greater numbers, if those savages' demands are met. However, those are the the breaks when you are a relatively small, distant, and disposable country with an abundance of natural resources. Cheap Russian oil must continue to flow and the global corporations cannot lose all those customers to a return of the iron curtain. Ukraine must be sacrificed for capitalism.

BBC World News tonight presented the Polish fighter deal as basically an attempt to leverage the US airbase in Germany to slip NATO into the fight. Said the Americans pushed back hard, and that Harris will be landing in Poland on Wednesday (presumably that was already planned - otherwise they literally just threw her on the plane!) and was expected to reiterate the point.

It was basically to show the world that we’re the holdup not the poles.

the line that the us was surprised by this is crap. The concept was posted here a week ago.

I don't recognize this picture. Is there a story behind it?
It’s actually a real sad story of a former FSU QB who went to Bonnarroo and got into some stuff that messed up his brain. He was a bit wild, like in this picture going to a UF game and wearing gator gear. But after the festival he was really messed up and ended up being arrested out of his mind clamoring he was Jesus at a fast food restaurant. Later his actions and decline were blamed on Lyme disease, but most believe it was some bad psychedelics. He’s had some other issues that suggest he never got back to “normal”

Cliffs notes is he is FSU’s Syd Barrett

Is Putin Europe's worst leader or what???

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how this insane war benefits Russia.

Some facts after 3 weeks of war:

1.) The Russian economy is imploding.

2.) Thousands of Russian soldiers are getting maimed and killed.

3.) Russian is turning into a world pariah.

I just don't see the point of this Ukranian endeavor.

Can someone explain to me how this benefits Russia?

TIA.

Simple: Putin lives in a bubble of yes men and women and never thought items 1 through 3 would happen. In which case he easily expands his empire and grabs their natural resources and agricultural wealth. He grossly miscalculated the cost and ability of west to reunite. He thought NATO and US were weak.he thought his army was well equipped and fierce. He thought Ukraine had nothing and would lay down.

It's inflammatory.
It's not a war, it's a special operation.
Not to be confused with a police action.

What in the ever living f*ck are you talking about…inflammatory?

Just because someone calls it a special operation doesn’t mean it isn’t a war. Have you missed the indiscriminate shelling of residential buildings? Tanks firing on civilians? Over 1M refugees? Your special action is the most inflammatory thing to happen in Europe since WWII and people are parsing words on what to call it?

It’s a f*cking war. We should call it a f*cking war and we should help Ukraine win this f*cking war.

Does anyone know if the West has been able to supply replacement rockets or new SAM systems to Ukraine? It is the least we can do since we are wimping out on the aircraft.

I assume it was a joke referring to the good morning viet nam clip about police actions vs war.

It’s pretty clear that the internal propaganda is going to have to ramp up to keep Putin in power / alive. The sanctions are starting to impact the average Russian. The elites will be fine, so to keep the masses pacified they will need to be distracted. We will see how long bogus anti Nazi and the West is picking on us rhetoric outweighs empty bank accounts and stomachs.
