This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

This is the problem. One side is willing to bluff, to risk war crimes, to destroy the lives of millions of people. One side believes might makes right, because their experience has proven this out. The other side is pissing their pants over the completely hollow threat of nuclear war.

There is only one way to treat a bully, whether they are on the playground or the leader of a nation:

Punch the motherf*cker in the face.

One disturbing thing that will be apparent form this tragedy is that everyone will want nuclear weapons in the future. It is the only thing keeping the west from kicking Putins ass. Also, Ukraine giving up their nukes based on Russian and US guarantees of peace and protection seems incredibly stupid at this point.

Honestly, I used to think non-proliferation was the only way…this has shown me that maybe we need to embrace the nukes world wide. They are in some ways, keeper of the peace.

You can bet if Ukraine still had them Putin wouldn’t have even considered this…

NATO won't do anything if Putin bombs one of their countries. There will be one excuse followed by several more.
That’s kind of what I’m thinking too….article 5 doesn’t force members to respond militarily, it states they may.

And honestly if the threat of nuclear war is too great to prevent us from helping Ukraine, why would we suddenly deem it worth it for a neighboring country?

(for the record, I think we should do more for Ukraine now….just pointing out the logic here)

Being able reconsider and change your opinions based on overwhelming evidence you were wrong is a sign of intelligence. People that are emotionally invested in their positions and cling to them despite facts are dangerous whether they are on the right or left.

Except that we are on the record saying we will defend every inch if NATO soil.
