This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

The FL NG unit that was there for training had been relocated to NATO nations mid-February.

Austin made this decision “out of an abundance of caution — with the safety and security of our personnel foremost in mind — and informed by the State Department’s guidance on U.S. personnel in Ukraine,” according to the media release.

“This repositioning does not signify a change in our determination to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces, but will provide flexibility in assuring allies and deterring aggression,” the release states.

Task Force Gator soldiers, joined by NATO allies and partners, “mentor and advise Armed Forces of Ukraine Observer Controller / Trainers at the Combat Training Center located near Yavoriv, according to the JMTG-U website. They do this, according to the website, by employing a “train-the-trainer” approach, enabling Ukrainians to take the lead in training rotational brigades.

Seems less than ideal. Would think China would tell Russia to fuk off but who knows
I can't imagine China sends troops.
They don't need to be tied to the outcome.
They I think would rather keep the non-intervention narrative (the exception notably being the countries on their border)

He's more likely desperate for munitions, drones, etc. and will cash'n'carry those kinds of things for discounted energy.

Edited to add: And trucks.

Just chiming in again men from my first post hundreds of pages ago. Have loved all of the information contained herein. The political BS has been minimal. But I've got to draw the line for the next 3 hours as the most hated rivals square off for the B1G championship. F Iowa the same way OP's mom F's the long Boilermaker Special running its train all over her. Look forward to picking back up the thread this evening after the championship. Jim Delany, master tactician that he was knew the value in Leaders & Legends. A modern day Eisenhower. Unfortunately Kevin Warren has the foresight of Vlad Putin. F Iowa forever, most hated rival, and Slava Ukraine!
Most hated rivals? 🤣

I hope so but I seriously doubt it.
If he hits a NATO country, China is screwed. NATO and the United States are 40+ trillion of GDP. Once we’re attacked, we can drop the hammer on anyone who continues to deal with Russia.

I’d say even Putin isn’t that dumb, but I honestly don’t know at this point.

You doubt that NATO would defend one of its member countries?

I think you would see a lot of hair splitting over what constitutes an attack. Smaller, newer, member countries will be seen as expendable. Do you actually think they are going to risk their western comforts for Latvia?

If they don’t NATO will lose all credibility and crumble. They will have no choice but to engage with Russia, which I believe they absolutely will.

Why the holy heck would China back Putin and instantly end trading with their biggest trading partner?
China has been the clear winner in all of this. They are getting as much Russian oil as they want, and they get it at a 20% discount. I think they will continue this current stasis for a while.

I disagree. They wanted a powerful partner to help take on the West. They got a financially dependent albatross that the world hates, Europe no longer needs, and that is too broke to maintain the navy that could have helped with Taiwan.
