This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

20,000 is a big number to hide from the Russian people for long. This rose petal parade they are being sold isn’t going to hold up forever. I’ve seen the bizarre texts and phone call transcripts, but the dam is going to crack.
Yep, 20,000 dead Russian military means every single Russian probably knows another family who has lost a son/husband etc.

Previously, I think US sources were being pretty conservative on death counts compared to what we were hearing from Ukrainian sources.

True, this does not equal KIA, but that’s a lot of wounded to hide. The last fairly authoritative US number on dead that I heard was 6000, which is stunning for three weeks.
I believe I just saw the US put it at 7,000 dead, conservatively. I just see people continually throwing out casualty estimates as KIA, which it isn't and only gets people more confused when the "number" they see drops from 20k to 6k.

True. Casualties do also indicate a strain on an attacker. All of those injured soldiers require support and take away from battlefield strength.

From central Belarus to southern Belarus. Hope it is to chase out the Russians and not to attack Ukraine.

Looks like the video is gone. It was from a vehicle trailing a convoy of troop transport trucks.

Conservatively, more than 7,000 Russian troops have been killed since Putin's Feb. 24 invasion, "a staggering number amassed in just three weeks of fighting," The New York Times reports. "Pentagon officials say a 10 percent casualty rate, including dead and wounded, for a single unit renders it unable to carry out combat-related tasks," and "Russian casualties, when including the estimated 14,000 to 21,000 injured, are near that level."

From Ukrainian forces and volunteers handed Putin one of his 'most comprehensive routs' in a small town
