This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

The reality is, the world of infant formula is pretty much an oligopoly: Nestle, Danon, Abbott, and Mead Johnson being responsible for the overwhelming amount of supply. It's actually not that easy to take one of them offline without real risks to children.
Look at the situation with the recall of formula in USA and how it is really impacting mothers here

but hey let’s penalize everyday Russian people because they have a lunatic as a leader. A lunatic they probably don’t support, but fear speaking out on. Let’s penalize them. They have tits right

So what's the deal with S. Africa. Aren't they supposed to be all about freedom and democracy now?

I listened to a piece about this on NPR yesterday. India and many African nations are remaining neutral or even accepting of Russia because they are viewed as anti-Western culture that colonized their countries in the last century. There is still a lot of anti-European sentiment there, especially in older politicians.

@GOHOX69 curious what your thoughts are on this. Not trying to troll or anything, you just have a lot of thoughts on India's relations with other countries, and probably have an interesting take.

Which is wildly ironic, because the Russian empire was 1/6th of the world, and a Czar’s greatness was measured by how much new land he took.

Kyev Rus predates Russia. Kiev predates Moscow, which was some backwater name Muscovy.

Time for a "repost"...

You’re going to get emotional responses, not rational ones.

I posted the map earlier in the thread. It’s really just ‘the West’ that is sanctioning Russia.
The rest of the world has sort of shrugged.

Japan was only doing political sanctions. Do we cut off them, China, Mexico and Brazil for not playing ball?
Other than China and India what other countries do a lot of business with Russia and actually have an impact? I also thought Japan banned exports of a lot of products to Russia like semiconductors.

I would be surprised to see Japan do otherwise to anybody. Culturally, they view banking as a natural right, which is a product of being an isolated island that relies on banking to survive

Once upon a time, of course, being cut off from the US and Europe would have left any pariah with only a small sliver of the global marketplace. Back in 1990, for example, the US and the EU combined to make up more than 40 percent of the global economy while China, India, Mexico, Russia, and Brazil all combined for a measly 18 percent.

But things have changed over the past thirty years, and the two blocs are now equal:

The Ukrainian army has set a record in the efficiency of using Javelin anti-tank systems. For 112 shots - 100 accurate hits on target.

As a result of the above, and based on the declarations of the officials of the Mexican government, Mexico will not impose unilateral sanctions to Russia or Belarus and will only implement sanctions if they are imposed by the Security Council.
Well, that's just brilliant. They'll only implement sanctions on a country if the Security Council imposes them...and the country they would sanction has unilateral veto power in that council.

How much of that growth is attributed to China? It's kind of weird putting them together like that. I suppose the west includes Australia, Canada, South Korea and Japan? And I still don't know how much business those countries do with Russia.
