This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

You seem to be mixing all kinds of apples and oranges. We were in Germany, we were not in Japan. Are we talking about defeating the Russian military in the Ukraine Theater? Are talking about defeating the Russian military globally? Are talking about expelling Russians through whatever means necessary from Ukraine? Are talking about attacking Russia and destroying leadership? Are we talking about invading and occupying Russia?

My comment that sparked all the outrage was, "it depends on the circumstances."

If we tried to invade Russia, I'm saying it would not be a walk in the park.

I agree that if we tried to invade Russia, it would not be a walk in the park. But that is not the relevant inquiry, which is whether we can "neutralize" Russia's military, and more particularly, in Ukraine.

We couldn't defeat the Taliban.

What makes you think we could defeat Russia?
The Taliban collapsed within a month of our invasion. So did Iraq.

We are really good at destroying the current power. However fighting the insurrection afterwords is far tougher. I imagine an invasion of Russia, and let's pretend it wouldn't devolve into a nuclear war (it would), we would destroy the current government of Russia and eventually find Putin. However, we wouldn't stick around very long with an occupation.

Or we would because we can do stupid things over and over again. But there's a lot of money to be made off of stupidity.

You're not going to neutralize Russia's military in Ukraine without destroying infrastructure and supply lines inside Russia's border.

They didn't collapse.

Newsflash: The Taliban are in power today.

They hid in the mountains and waited us out. They're very patient people. Unlike us.

How do you figure? We destroy the rail lines and we destroy the roads into Ukraine. For the troops cut off in Ukraine, they can surrender or die.

Okay, Gen. Macarthur.
Well, how else are they to get supplies for 100K troops and fuel for equipment? Walk it through the forest? By barge? We have the airpower to make sure nothing of significance can enter Ukraine, and if it does, it will have short time left on earth. It isn't that hard.

I watched her interview with Chuck Todd this morning. I came away thinking she would make a fine successor to Joe.
I’m ready for a Gen-Xer or millenial - we’re turning 40 now - in the White House. Someone who owned Nevermind or The Chronic on CD or saw Pulp Fiction in the theater. It’s time.

Between you first picking a fight today over what ended up to be an actual downed Russian plane and now this, I may have to start calling you Iowa Nat
I questioned the crash site and then admitted the mistake….something 90% of the board doesn’t do.

Protests happen in democracies.

I've changed my mind. It's time for the US and NATO to send in a peacekeeping force of some kind. Russia isn't going to launch nuclear weapons over that. We send in air support to take out any missile sites and to cover Ukrainian infantry while they liberate cities as fast as possible and push Russian troops out.

The images I've seen this weekend have pushed me over the edge. That is my redline.

Do it from the air or sea and don’t put troops on the ground. Biden said that we would not put troops on the ground.

Anything ranked higher (#)than 100 is pretty much a B. Fyi - both iowa and drake are top 100. Florida ans Illinois have numerous top 100’s.
Now go back and see the ranking when he attended. The program I went through at Iowa was ranked 6th when I graduated. Now it’s not even in the top 20.

Yeah… I’ve been thinking supply the Ukrainians with intel and weapons and let them kick ass, but I read a story about Russian soldiers chasing a little girl and shooting her in the legs for fun last night. This morning read an account of 4 little girls, the oldest being 10, with vaginal and anal tears. Just saw a video taken inside of a house in Burcha with a bunch of men slumped over, hands tied behind their backs, with gunshot wounds in the back of the head. Russians are subhuman. No one’s going to miss any that we kill.

Welcome to team NFZ! I wish it were not necessary, but it so clearly is. As we learn more I suspect the support will reach critical mass. Time to sack up well beyond what we have done so far.
