This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Talk about straddling the fence, Turkiye is putting on quite the display. They are selling drones to Ukraine, hoping to be a peace broker, allowing oligarchs to stash their yachts and jets on their territory, and are now seeing an influx of Russians buying citizenship. Buy $250,000 of property in Turkiye and you get fast tracked to citizenship. Reports mention transactions being made in all cash of gold.

I read before, and probably needs confirmed, that the drones were sold directly from a private company to Ukraine. No government involvement. I guess best case for them, you could say they didn’t intervene on Russias behalf and block the sale.

But again, someone should probably confirm.

NATO should do the same.

Exactly

Quit letting Putin dictate the discussion and direction based on him hearing "what we surely won't do".

Few thought he'd actually invade. Now, they're astonished that his troops aren't actually engaging in war against a military, but are targeting and murdering civilians.

Ramp up the sanctions. Shoot down and engage Russian aircraft in Ukrainian airspace. Sink Russian ships in Ukrainian waters.

Enough.

Amen brother.

Putin won’t negotiate with any NATO member or US ally. This peace will have to be negotiated by China, I don’t see any other possibility.
The issue is there is no peaceful end to this that doesn't end with Russia in control of the Eastern portion of Ukraine. Putin will never agree to anything less.

Ukraine can not accept that either. Putin will spend the time rebuilding their military, presumably while keeping a closer eye on corruption, and be back to take the rest in a few years. I don't know what the actual answer is. At this point, it seems it will take an Osama Bin Laden style raid to take him out but as long as he stays in bunkers hidden in the Ural mountains that will be impossible.

Brought this up yesterday….

But how is the House not sticking around to vote on this before their 2 week break not pissing everyone who supports Ukraine off?

That delay in voting is a head-scratcher to me as well. Only thing I can figure is it doesn't immediately impact supplies already in the pipeline for use in the next several weeks. Perhaps it covers things that will require more training of Ukrainian troops, etc., like IFVs, 155mm artillery, etc.

For me yes, it is very disappointing. I think sadly, we are use to our politicians letting us down and behaving like middle school morons. So when I first read the news about this yesterday I was not surprised just angry and disappointed.

The thing is it’s not being reported in any of the media which I think is weird….

It’s even mentioned in the article that the house needs to pass it…

Guess the bill isn’t “going to turn the tide” as the article implies if you can wait 2 weeks…a Russians are probably going to launch their offensive in the east in the next two weeks…and Ukraine will be burning through weapons stocks

Pelosi is obviously a Putin stooge.

At some point we need to see Biden in Kyiv, but I understand that timing is everything for that type of deal.

Unless we're just going ahead with it anyway 😎. House will approve it formally in 2 weeks. The US can start moving things logistically prior to turning over custody of materials to the Ukrainians. Or we can even start getting moving on training, etc. without the bill having actually been signed into law.

And yet people here are advocating attacks on Russian civilians too.
Since we know that causes a ‘rally around the flag’ - why do it?
This would be counterproductive for sure. Best to attack places like Belgorod, etc. being used by Russia for refit and staging.

Would certainly hope that is the case....

Otherwise, no excuse for it.

That’s basically how the Iran-Contra deal went down if I recall. Only Congress never actually approved, lol.

Military targets? Supply lines? Factories? Refineries? Those are legitimate targets.

Civilians? Not so much.

The optics are not good, but there is no impact to supplies getting to Ukraine. There is plenty available to move now. And, Biden has some leeway. If it became urgent Nancy Pelosi would call them back into session. And, you will never hear me say that Congress doesn’t get enough days off. Bad optics.
