Can someone give me the quick notes for dummies on this? Who should we be cheering for?
Just guessing that since they are a member of the CIS, if asked Russia would be required to send in stabilization forces. They did this in Kazakhstan early in 2022, and Belarus in 2021. So, mainly another distraction and drain of Russian resources.

Belarus has been talking about invading for four months. Either piss or get off the pot.
As I have said many times, but with the unrest in Uzbekistan boiling over, Belarus had massive protests last year. That government will crumble if they invade Ukraine. They would need a huge string of false flag attacks in order to even attempt to justify an invasion, and that probably wouldn’t sway public opinion. Lukashenko is deeply unpopular at home, so the population will have a tough time believing yet another lie from him.

He needs to "get the memo" that NATO will light him up if he does anything in Ukraine.

They should already be shelling Minsk military targets for him allowing the Russians to shoot from his territory; just obliterate the area those missiles are coming from.

Belarus is not Russia; so just take him out. Give him the statement "ANY military actions from Belarus - missiles or other ordnance coming from Belarus territory into Ukraine will be met with immediate action from Western nations."
