This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

I've been against it in the past, but this continues to show that we can't be held hostage by the Middle East and Russia when it comes to oil. Push to create as much domestic drilling as possible and become the leader in oil.

While also continuing to develop green energy.

This is exactly my thought. We can be a leader in production but companies have to understand this isn't a "forever" solution. One last hurrah for 20 ish years to make a crap ton of money.

I have been a proponent of developing new, green energy to get off of OPEC's monopoly on the market and take many of our interests or of the ME. It's also better for the environment, obviously.

Sounds like a great opportunity to promote and incentivize domestic production...
True...but making up 2 million barrels a day production isn't going to happen...alleviate it a little but the prices are going up regardless.

Some of the ideas they have heard floated. I suspect the smaller responses are what West would do.

I would hope we would not launch a full scale strike on Russia….however wiping out the unit that launched, and anything to do with that unit (airfield, base etc) would be acceptable in my eyes.

Wiping out Russian forces IN Ukraine would also be acceptable….taking out the Black Sea fleet would make me a bit hesitant.

What if they then launch another?

Almost certainly BS but some of us have been wanting this to happen since the war began.

Lvov is just across the border, and would be hard to believe on its own short of an official announcement.
Dnepropetrovsk and Poltava are much deeper in Ukraine and nearer the front line.
Polish forces getting killed in Ukraine wouldn’t be an article 5 issue for NATO anymore than Americans killed in Vietnam.

IF true this could prove interesting-IIRC Ukraine warned them recently that this sort of thing would no longer be tolerated and there would be a response. (Anyone else remember this being said-I cannot find it.)

And per the second tweet responses-the missiles missed. Ukraine will probably ignore it since it is an attempt to draw Belarus into the war.
