This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

They didn't all get through but even those shot down seem to have an impact on the civilian population:)
There are lots of videos of the drones over Russia as this happened during daytime. Wonder if this day light attack was also for psychological purposes.

Putin has bankrupted your country, and he cannot keep you safe, Boris. Enjoy that runaway inflation in 2025 unless Trump can bail out Putin.

Europe is going to do it without US.
Hopefully. We shall see. Will Trump attempt to leverage the US against NATO and the Western democracies? Will he threaten to hold back arms sales? Will he threatened to pull back US forces or stop some joint training like he did with South Korea when he was in love with Fatty Un?

I don’t know why, but when push comes to shove I have a feeling Trump won’t actually abandon Ukraine. If he pulls more out the rest of NATO while maintaining a level of support, it could be enough.

If he is flattered enough I can see him pretending he is the King of NATO. Maybe they should throw a big parade for him past the Brandenburg Gate? Not joking, by the way. Have a big meeting, fawn over him, give him lots of camera time. Fly some fighter jets overhead and let some tanks thunder past. And, quietly tell him that they can go on without him just fine.

Seriously, that would work. I’m not even kidding.

From his old Locker Room days in the aughts, I can tell you he is an OG Ron Paul guy…that is the rabbit hole he fell in that got him trapped and where all his stupidity and Russia love originates.

No love of Russia, just hatred for the rabbit hole the neocons took this country down.
War after war after war after war after war, and not one of you can describe the benefits.

At some point you have to wake up recognize the waste and futility of it, right?
I continue to hold out hope y'all will eventually come to your senses.

I'll ask again:

Have you read ambassador Burns' cable to the White House after the Bucharest Memorandum proposed adding Ukraine and Georgia to NATO?

https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/08MOSCOW265_a.html

I'm trying to figure out where your understanding on this situation begins as a basis for the conversation on how we got to where we stand now.
My understanding is that Russia invaded a sovereign nation. Russia wouldn’t have to be so worried about NATO if they stopped invading other countries. No NATO country has invaded another country in Europe since the inception of NATO. It is a defensive organization created solely because Russia is full of f$cks.

My understanding is that Russia invaded a sovereign nation. Russia wouldn’t have to be so worried about NATO if they stopped invading other countries.

Serbia and Libya didn't invade other countries, and yet found themselves bombed by NATO.
Our own actions (under Democratic presidents, no less) undermine the notion that NATO is purely a defensive alliance.
It became an international imprimatur to sidestep the UN and intervene in foreign civil wars after the Soviet Union fell apart.
This alarms the Russians because, as people have noted in this thread, Russia is made up of a lot of ethnic minorities.
Post-Soviet Union they fought to prevent Chechen separatists, because that area is incredibly oil rich (it's where Hitler was trying to reach in 1942).
What they fear was the idea of NATO (read: US) bases in Ukraine or Georgia being used under the dubious 'duty to protect', that Obama used to lie us into the Libyan civil war, to potentially intervene against them.

No NATO country has invaded another country in Europe since the inception of NATO.

Incorrect.
Turkey invaded Greek Cyprus (both NATO members!) 22 years after they both joined the alliance.
But more to the point, NATO troops are still in Kosovo (formerly part of Serbia).
Interestingly, several NATO nations actually reject recognizing the partition.
Spain is one of them, dealing with their own separatists movements, they're not keen to recognize others. Go figure.

It is a defensive organization created solely because Russia is full of f$cks.

The cable is pretty short, you should read it to see just how prescient the observations were in 2008. And perhaps disabuse you of the notion this war is purely driven by Putin's, and not broadly Russian, sentiments.

Burns also has a memoir that came out in 2019.
He was our ambassador to Russia when Ukraine and Georgian membership was first floated.
He's now our CIA Director.

He's one of the people in our government who opposed NATO expansion (understanding where it would lead), but I don't see people calling our CIA Director 'Putin's puppet'.
Maybe they just don't know.

Here's some excerpts from his book about the NATO expansion:

https://listeningto.org/ukraine/bill-burns-nato/

Any regular to this thread should read it, if not his whole book.

I'm sorry to ask this, but are you f***ing shi**ing us with this? A nepo baby is s**t posting Zelensky and Ukrainians who are fighting for their country from the luxury of a penthouse that his grandpa paid for? I guess it's true, people with no empathy or self awareness raise kids with no empathy or self awareness. I assume Lindsey Graham and Liddle Marco will mumble that they didn't see this, and have no opinion on something they are unaware of.

For those of you wondering why we didn't give Ukraine A-10s, one has been sitting at CID for a week. They were supposed to do a flyover at Kinnick last week, but apparently one of them broke. I say apparently no flyover because they introduced the flight crew in the second half, but I didn't see any planes flying over. Too murky that night. I assumed that they had scrubbed it due to the low ceiling.

Yeah, but Little Don’s opinion matters more than yours, apparently.

Hope this is more accurate than all those rumors about Putin dying soon.

"It seems the Russian economy is headed towards a collapse in 2025. And Putin knows this. While the Kremlin likes to pretend that their bloody war economy is doing better than ever, this is far from the truth.

In attempts to stop runaway inflation due to increased defense spending, the Russian Central Bank has increased the interest rate to record high 21% and will “very likely” raise it again in December. It is unclear whether they will be able to stop inflation this way, but this move is likely to bear devastating consequences for Russian businesses, already hurt by Western sanctions.

Many are already reporting a drastic increase in late payments from counterparties – a worrying sign for the economy. Financial experts are expecting a “wave” of bankrupcies to sweep the Russian market over the next several months, and many leading businesses have grim prognoses for 2025

Russia’s biggest steel manufacturer, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, have enough reserves only for another 6 months and have a “very negative” outlook for 2025.

Samolet group, a major real estate developer is also on the brink of collapse – their sales are down 37%, and one of the biggest shareholders is trying to sell his stake in the company. As a systemic company for the Russian economy, the default of Samolet would likely require a government bailout.

Russia’s Union of Shopping Centers has appealed to the government for support. They are requesting subsidized interest rates of 7-10 percent, debt restructuring, and payment deferrals of 5-10 years. Without these measures, 200 shopping centers risk bankruptcy.

Among other companies that foresee a default in their future are Krial Energo Stroy plant and strategic enterprise “Rosgeologia”, while national restaurant chain “Kuzina” has technically defaulted already

Even the defense industry is not safe from the effects of the interest rate hike. Sergey Chemezov, the head of the state-owned defense conglomerate Rostec warned, “If we keep operating like this, most of our businesses will go bankrupt. Even arms sales don’t generate enough profit [to service debt at rates above 20 percent].”

If these predictions come to be over the next two quarters, Russia’s economy is in for a major “shakeup” – economic growth will slow and inflation rates will keep growing. Very clear sign that the economy is doing well, right?"

You want to tell lucas to quit spreading disinformation?

It's on brand that he screws up basic facts, but he's 'protected' himself from being made aware.
You're the russian troll, who claims putin does nothing wrong ever. And you never give sources. You've done your job and got a fascist, rapist, felonious, treasonous pedophile elected. So why don't you leave and spread your deceit and lies elsewhere.

The worry now is less what is happening at the front lines than what it reveals about stresses behind them. Amid a breakdown of trust between society, the army and the political leadership, Ukraine is struggling to replace battlefield losses with conscription, barely hitting two-thirds of its target. Russia, meanwhile, is replacing its losses by recruitment with lucrative contracts, without needing to revert to mass mobilisation. A senior Ukrainian military commander admits that there has been a collapse in morale in some of the worst sections of the front. A source in the general staff suggests that nearly a fifth of soldiers have gone AWOL from their positions.

If you're not lying it will be easy to quote an example.
But you're lying, so you can't.

And you never give sources. You've done your job and got a fascist, rapist, felonious, treasonous pedophile elected. So why don't you leave and spread your deceit and lies elsewhere.
Everything I've posted here is easily sourced by copying and pasting into google if I was on my phone and didn't go the rigmarole to post a link.
If you think otherwise, post an example and I'll prove you wrong.
You're full of it.

Foreign Minister Lavrov and other senior officials have reiterated strong opposition, stressing that Russia would view further eastward expansion as a potential military threat.

NATO has never, ever posed a "military threat" to Russia.
You continue posting Russian talking points. Why is that.
