Thoughts on DOGE finding this out?

Forget the inner workings. You know how the U.S. has tried to spread its influence since the Cold War days. Common sense would tell you there’s spend associated with those efforts, and it’s not like buying office supplies.
And I’ve said I knew we were doing it (I’ve always hated it) but you had an idea of where it was going and how it was being used? I think the biggest story, if true, is the inner workings of how our taxpayer money gets voted on and sent without any oversight. Having Elon who is under the whole worlds microscope and has the biggest sphere of influence in social media tweeting about this is giving a lot of people new news.

It's not though. You can access these budgets on the department websites.

I'm sorry, but you're the one being captured by propaganda.
You have Elon tweeting about this haha. He is the biggest influencer in the world on the biggest platform in the world. How hard is this to understand? No one goes to these department websites.

My ex wife’s brother is an engineer for a high level defense contractor in Huntsville, He was very guarded in talking about his job as in basically didn’t share anything, The one thing he said that stuck with me is “We work on shit that you won’t hear about for over 10 years”. IMO kinda fits into the futuristic conjecture of which you speak.
Except one needs to understand and not freak out that we are always developing and working with things.

I often wondered why my dad would tell me stuff and suggest books for me to read. Then I understood it. No one would have believed it. It was too much for the mundane brain to process.

Case in point on these boards. All the push back on the show The Americans, although it was just proven fact.

One thing I’ve learned. Unless you grow up in the intelligence community, few outside of it can fathom the realities and why some things are done the way they are.

It’s like you guys are coming across indoor plumbing for the first time.

I see that I've wasted my time.

Bitch, you’re on HORT! It’s always been a waste of time.

I see you’re still spreading the disinformation that USAID was investigating Starlink. You are a crystalline example of how the media influence operation works with you misconstruing that initial story and then to keep repeating your abjectly false takeaway. And the crazy part is, you have no self awareness in doing it, and no self awareness in how others get caught up in the same thing.

Clearly this is the fault of late stage capitalism......

The issue is that the influence operations aren’t aimed at just a foreign audience.

Just because you’re ok with the government trying to brainwash people overseas to think a certain thing, doesn’t mean any of us should be ok with the government trying to brainwash people here to think a certain thing.

I’m not necessarily ok with any of it.

What I’m not ok with is acting like this is all a new development in the last four years, and definitely not ok with Musk’s role in the process.

From your posting on this subject you're exhibiting extremely poor critical thinking skills.

You're coming to wide-ranging conclusions about the government and how it administers programs and spends money via tweet from one of the least credible sources on the planet (Elon Musk and the rightwing media-sphere).

Basically you're just nodding along to what you want to hear from known extremely unreliable and outright fraudulent sources.

When it came my attention over the last four years is when reporting on the different censorious outfits that cropped up, their funding kept going back through two, or three intermediaries and right back to our government. Because they knew they couldn’t do it outright without plainly violating the first amendment, and because it allowed them to create enough obfuscation so that low information voters could tell themselves it wasn’t the government and politicians actually behind these attempts to censor people and stifle content and narratives the politicians opposed.

Rip it all out, root and branch.

There is a reason they deliberately commingled these activities with things like helping provide clean drinking water to poor foreigners. They want to use them as human shields for the shit they’re up to that they shouldn’t be, and the distraction is effective on a substantial cohort.

If doing this were more comparable to making a free throw than hitting a fast ball why the **** didn't anyone else see it?
Hardly breaking news the government can be wasteful w money. It's crazy that a billionaire who spent $250 million on the election has bought his way into this access. So I'm not going to believe everything a conspiracy spreading, ketamine addicted billionaire with an agenda says. Maybe when he tweets something out that makes Trump or himself look bad will I give him the benefit of the doubt.

So your view is this is all the Biden disinformation campaign, all in the last five years?

I'm not going believe every conspiracy theory.

But also

Eloon is a ketamine addict.

Ok.

Did you hesitate to buy into the Russiagate conspiracy theories until the reporters told you something bad about themselves?
How did that go?

There are times when I have sort of a … negative chemical state in my brain, like depression I guess, or depression that’s not linked to any negative news, and ketamine is helpful for getting one out of the negative frame of mind,” Musk told Lemon. Musk added that he has a prescription for the drug from “an actual, real doctor” and uses “a small amount once every other week or something like that.”

While Musk said he doesn’t drink and doesn’t “know how to smoke pot,” he didn’t specify whether he was talking about ketamine or another substance when he said he is “almost always” sober while posting late at night.

If you want to debate the legitimacy of a ketamine prescription that's between you and your god but there is nothing there that remotely says "addict".

I wouldn’t affix Biden to it that way, it’s far larger than him in terms of base of support. Put another way, the Disinformation Governance Board idea was coming regardless of whether Biden was the face of the White House, or someone else.
The purchase of Twitter and release of comms from the government was a curtain at Oz moment.
With Trump’s EO on the first amendment, and the new inspector generals, I expect we’ll see a lot more comms from more agencies to more media come to light. That’s what Zuckerberg was already trying to get in front of by saying he thought they went to far.

I'm starting to believe they actually know they're doing it but don't care bc they think they're protecting their "side".
In reality there should be no democrat/republican side on this issue... Because ultimately its us, the American tax payer, vs the corrupt and wasteful federal government complex. Period. Everything else we're being bombarded with is distraction from this point.

True. Do you feel Elon's behavior has become more erratic the last few years? Why has he decided to go all in on culture war/spreading conspiracy theories/generally being a thin skinned asshole?

I posted it because of Wikileaks which I stated at the start of this thread. Find a post where I linked Elon here.

I’m also not concluding anything, I’m trying to make sense of what is getting posted and if it’s true, which again I’ve stated in this thread. If I was nodding along I would be taking everything at face value and posting like Northern as everything is fact but I’m not.

In terms of sources, who are not the outright fraudulent sources you speak of so I can pay attention to them as well? It seems the people you think I am reading and listening to are in the right wing media sphere.

According to some on here it’s not the problem. The fact the graft is being found and reported is the problem.
No its that they throwing shit out there there they haven't proven. I am still waiting from the proof they found on Medicare and Medicaid. All I have seen them do is post a 2024 article.

It's crucial for people to know where their elected officials are directing funds, but the focus should be on spending that drives meaningful impact.
While $500 million may sound like a significant sum, when spread over the many years Internews Network has operated (the linked tweets don’t specify the timeframe of the 457 distributions), it amounts to just a fraction of what is allocated annually to areas like defense spending.
A more efficient and impactful strategy would be to first address the biggest gaps before filling in the smaller ones.

Oh, @Phenomenally Frantastic …. Whatcha got?

Let me ask you this. When the cuts they want to make like OSHA, NLRB, CFPB, USAID etc are complete, and they increase tax cuts to the wealthy again, and create an additional 3 trillion dollars of deficit; what will be the end result?

Tesla is the national leader in OSHA violations by a large amount. The NLRB has been in lawsuit with Musk companies a few times. The CFPB was investing Musk. USAID was investigating Starlink.

Is this a left wing talking point? Moral posted this verbatim

It's alarming that that is what you're focused on.
Im not focused on that at all. You guys brought it up and I was answering questions.

I am more focused on the actual way these funds are being disbursed and how the Washington power players are using our money to filter to these NGOs. The structure of how this is used to push their personal agendas of these Washington Oligarchs.

Yes, it was us guys that brought up yhe site traffic of Twitter haha.

It's alarming that it seems you view the amount of traffic a site has as some kind of proof that the information is reliable and truthful.
The questioning originated from posters saying this info has always been there. I said it is being shown more light because of Elon and Twitter with news orgs actually reporting on it because of Elon. How is that me saying I think this information is reliable and truthful?

But since it’s been there the whole time and Wikileaks bringing it up from using that website, wouldn’t that mean that the information I posted in this thread is reliable and truthful?
