It has run it's course. Nobody outside of Iowa cares. Take your home game and at least get it on BTN. This is ridiculous.

I think it's great for Iowa and Iowa State to play both Drake and Northern Iowa each year. If they can't win at either of those venues it's their own fault.
LAME?? Not televising the HAWKEYE BB program in the Hawkeye State. That is beyond lame. Probably could have had a million viewers. Just stupid
Unless they make it a Two day affair where Iowa and ISU play both drake and UNI, they should end this 'classic'. the event makes little sense to me. We should go back to playing drake and uni every year whether it's in dsm or alternating home and away. This one and done format seems like a wasted opportunity
Making it an actual 2-day tournament would make it interesting versus Iowa and ISU swapping out who plays Drake and who plays UNI.
Remember--Iowa and Iowa State were all for it. They no longer wanted to play at Cedar Falls and Knapp respectively. This goes back to before Fran and even Fred were coaching.
That said, I agree with the poster above. Make it a 2 day event so all 4 teams play each other.

No reason for Iowa to play at UNI or Drake. None. Refs screw us and our players couldn't care less about playing them.
I'm all for playing both schools every year but they should be treated like every other mid-major we play by having all games at Carver.

And the Iowa State game didn't come on until about half-time on powerhouse espnU ...Until after one football team I never heard of beat another team I never heard of by 50 points.
Then, they don't play a championship game.

So your saying the players would rather play Gardner-Webb, UMKC, Coppin St., or Western Illinois?
There is absolutely no logic in this statement. This isn't high school with home town refs. Are you saying that the refs were paid off to throw the game? Even if that were the case..which it isn't..your statement would still make no sense because refs could be paid off no matter the venue.
The worst job I've ever seen in officiating was when our football team played Florida in the Outback Bowl. Yet I've never heard one person that we should turn down a future invite to that bowl because the refs sucked that day. You know why? Because only an irrational, clueless lunatic would say such a thing.
I am an irrational, clueless lunatic and I want to add my opinion. No games at Drake or UNI. I'd be glad to play them at Carver or in a tournament fashion, at Carver. Could they use a little money? Is that what it will take? Iowa has money and a nice baseball coach as well, but that's a different matter.
UNI, Drake, want some money? Come to Carver and maybe Iowa will give you some money. But if it is up to me we won't be playing at your place, ever.
You obviously don't recall our last trip to Cedar Falls.
UNI and Drake players are always going to care a lot more about the game than the Iowa players.
I remember it well. I don't think that if we lose we should cry like a bunch of babies and refuse to play you again. Good teams find ways to win, not run away and play Gardner Webb in an empty arena.
I would like to point out that in this thread I have not been whining, crying, or running away like a little baby. I just don't think it's smart if you lose your shirt at a pool hall in a bad neighborhood to go back.

Money wise..against these cupcakes like Gardner Webb Carver Hawkeye is empty. There's NO gate for these teams. Iowa is not getting rich playing these teams . They pay them to come and get no ticket sales. Home and away you'd at least sell out one out of two years. Financially either decision is at least a wash.
That being said, taking the financial aspect out of it. What possible reason would you have for not having a home and away with UNI?

Ok, so Drake aside...UNI has proven to be a pretty good program lately. More NCAA appearances than us in the last 10 years. Just ask Kansas.. So do you think we should play them? Because if we run away scared I don't think we can say that we are the big boss program.
