Never read one person who said they did not play hard so not sure what you are talking about. But if you said they did not play smart and they were not coached effectively you would be right.

LOL….great debate tactic. All that proves is winning excuses all mistakes. It’s weird, and I’m not being an asshole saying this, it wasn’t until I started reading message boards that I realized every damn loss was because of bad coaching..
If at the end of the year or three years or five years, your coache is losing more than they’re winning, then decisions have to be made, but although I am indeed an emotional individual, I am not reactionary.
I had six kids play sports. I saw some questionable things on the traveling circuit and high school coaching, and many of them were indeed Poor coaches, but they generally had reasons for what they were doing. And there are certainly no guarantee I would’ve done better.
There isn’t a person on this board. I would trust to make those decision and that includes you… And if you lost the game, we would call you a bad coach, are you a bad coach?
I don't know what Jan and the coaches told them, but I have to think that Tania or Abby or Raina would have mentioned to Jan to foul before they shoot.
Watching the replay, Iowa had Guyton on Prince late but Nebby screened and Hannah switched. Prince was aggressive and forced a foul, as she should have. Good play design and no one else was in a position to step over without giving up a layup. Prince is good, which is why Jan recruited her so hard. Bottom line, we make FTs and it is over early.
At the end of the game, you want the ball in one player’s hands. This year, it never is. Maybe it should be Guyton. I really like the way she took charge at the end of regulation. She drove to the basket like she meant business. The shot didn’t go in, but she was going to take it.

And I won’t be…I don’t have any respect for most of these guys and they don’t like me anyway, but I will tell you I haven’t pinned all my hopes and dreams on the coaches of my favorite sports team. Nor am I mad as hell or think I could do better or that there are a shit ton of other others that can….

Most every youth coach would know what to do.
Most viewers at home are used to players getting angry with themselves when they mess up late. That is the natural reaction of players that care. Lucy certainly cares, but seems to have some kind of anxiety issues that makes her do what she does. Whatever, hopefully someone tells her that it comes off different to a lot of viewers at home.

Just finished watching it. When KF missed an open 3 and then on the following possession passed up the wide open 3 and barreled into defender for an OF, it was the perfect example of what is wrong with this team. Everyone plays scared in the 4th quarter and loses all bball IQ in the process.

That is not only reasonable, it’s likely true. They need a sports psychologist not a coach.
But I do think if we keep piling on the players & the coach on these message boards where their family and friends lurk, we got a real chance to help improve their confidence.

Nebraska 3pt shooting the first quarter 6-9 and then our Defense did a good job on that, only 3-17 in Q 2 and 3 and OT, but the 4th Q they hit 4-4 when Iowa was missing shots and FTs. Missed FTs reared it's ugly head again. That I don't get.
Which is code for…I got nothing. By the way, do you have a coaching book out, I’d like to read it, it’s not every day I get to speak with someone who has all the answers when it comes to winning and losing.

However, it’s amazing to me how much people forget this is not really surprising. You’re replacing a HOF coach, the best women’s college BB player ever and a couple of really good seniors.
It’s gonna take some time folks. You’re basically rebuilding . This freshman class is going to be great . It may not be this season , but give it some time .
Get Deal in here next year and she will make an instant difference .
I’m counting the days til I don’t have to watch AOG anymore ! She gives great effort but she has slow footwork and for her size cannot play thru any contact.
