Toledo vs iowa

The keys to Iowa WBB 's 94-57 blowout win over Toledo?

☑️ A fast start (28-10 1Q)
☑️ A balanced offensive attack (5 players in double figures)
☑️ A stifling defense (yes really)

The skinny on how Iowa dominated Toledo to improve to 3-0:

Fun to watch, no doubt. I think I'd pump the brakes on shooters everywhere, and least from a consistency standpoint. McCabe dropped 4 threes's I think. Did anyone else make one?
Shooters everywhere? I do think they have scorers everywhere. They run a good offense through the post with lot’s of back cuts! Not sure how many points in the paint they had but it was a majority. Most of the starters can get to the hoop off the dribble or back cuts.

??? Which is what I responded to. The poster said we had "shooters everywhere". To which I said, I'm not so sure that we do have "shooters". I'd agree we have scorers, BUT as we've discussed before that feed the post is great until we play a really good team with a big post player, (UCLA, Nebraska, Ohio State) and they zone us. With Lucy being a lane player we need Kylie, McCabe, Syd, and Mallengi to shoot fairly well against good teams or we're going to struggle. I like the new wrinkle of AOG in the high post and feeding cutters, but we will need to be able to make teams pay for zoning us as well.

Son’s video- five outlets asked permission to use😊. Later a lady next to him said” they girl she is playing with is good” Son informed her it was nelly- number one in world! Lol
So I'm guessing he posted it online first and then they asked? Did they throw him a little cabbage?

And yes, it sounds like Caitlin brought out some folks with no golf knowledge so that's pretty funny alright.

Starters went a little long in the 4th.. but they seemed to be working it in to AOG, then brought Heiden in and tried working it in but not as well..

As far as Ediger goes.. she had to see the writing on the wall(Gyamfi as well) that they wouldn’t see much time..
Ediger could’ve transferred if she was that unhappy, but determined being on the bench at Iowa was her choice then being in a rotation elsewhere. Not saying Ediger is terrible but AOG, Heiden, and Mallegni(when Stuelke is in at 5) are going to eat all 40 minutes in any meaningful game.

For some reason I was really glad to see her smiling. I think it's because she's SO far from home and I want her to fit in and be happy. I know, I fret over her like I'm her mother. But my maternal instincts were on overdrive and I didn't know I even had any 🤷‍♂️.

Why the Iowa women are fun to watch vs. the men:

1. The women actually run an offense.

2. Very unselfish, very good passing team Scored 90+ with only four threes.

3. Actually playing good defense.

4. The women know their roles, bigs stay down low in the blocks to score and rebound. Not on the perimeter chucking up threes.

Watched the womens game almost until the end. Switched off the men before halftime.

Pretty good performance. A few extended lapses in defense that Jan mentioned in the on court postgame interview. Not a lot of outside shooting but we’re still making things work offensively so far and the freshmen are getting good minutes.

On another note, Wisconsin lost to South Dakota State last night, 79-57. Ouch.

My understanding is that her family has all moved to North Liberty? So she is home. She's going to play ALOT this year, as part of a rotation, ad during AOG struggles and fouls. She'll be fine. Next year she'll be battling Hays....

Absolutely! I though the same thing when I saw her smile. I haven't really seen her smile like the other players do while they gather in a circle around the free throw area or at other times. Sometimes you just want a confirmation that she's diggin this gig.

Very entertaining team. They're going to be a problem. Feuerbach getting more consistant behind the 3 PT line will be key for this team imo

With 2:33 in the 1st quarter(espn has it listed as 2:36) Affolter got fouled and made 2 fts.

ESPN stats and play by play has it listed as Stuelke making the free throws.

So Affolter is short 2 points and 2-2 on fts and Stuelke has 2 extra points and 2 extra fts made and attempted.

ESPN is my go to for stats, their setup is easiest to access. Hopefully they get that listed correctly or it’ll bug me 😂

Not a big fan of Fran at this point, but, pretty sure that the men actually run an offense. Usually in the Top 20 in the nation in offense efficiency.

I really like this team. Drake will be an extremely tough game. I believe you're never as good or as bad as you think you are, but I'm pretty bullish on this team.
Yep ... we shouldn't get too high about the Hawks dispatching teams that are breaking in new coaches and systems.

The Drake game will definitely be extremely tough.

Correct. You can say a lot of things about Fran but not being efficient on offense is not one of them.

We just snagged 6 tickets. I thought for sure it would be sold out/stupidly expensive but $18 a piece (gen admission) is a no brainer especially when the 4 year old gets tired of the noise. And it's only 20 minutes away. She is pumped to see Hannah Stuelke in person though. Plus we can heckle the head coach who lived down the block from me when I was growing up. (Block being a relative term for our small town)

Is/was she better than Molly Davis? The answer is clearly yes, so yes, she would have.
Agree to disagree, and looking back at the POY in previous seasons supports my point I would argue. Paige Robinson (a 5th year from D2), Abby Brockmeyer (unathletic post), etc. Also note that I said "in the conversation for" POY originally.

You actually think Molly Davis is better than Dinnebier? She’s on the watch list for the best pt guard in the country. She’s undersized and won’t win it but cmon. It’s not even close.
