Trump slaps retaliatory measures on Colombia after it turns away deportation flights

I still feel if you put a barrier there. And create an employment system similar to the EU for Latin America to the US/Canada/Mexico, etc. Something can be accomplished better that what we currently have.
Maybe. I still believe it will just shift immigrants to a different travel path. However, if a barrier was put in place it would take a non-Mexican administration to enforce it. Otherwise, there is no way it will work.

I have been out most of the day and not following closely but briefly read something about they objected to US military aircraft in their airspace?
You seemed to be informed in your original post in this thread. You might want to actually read something first, right.

I guess then they try to travel by rafts. But I still believe deport, deport, deport. Won’t make a huge difference in the long run. Companies will find ways around it. They always do. Currently they just subcontract hiring out. Then blame those companies when they are raided.
Which of course disappear and form a new staffing company somewhere else.

There won't be rafts. There will be the cartel on the southern border doing the same thing. Except this time it will be easier bribing Mexicans instead of Americans.

Well I’m not against anything. Didn’t get enough information from the linked article. Still all it labels them as is migrants. Plenty of people have been here illegally and not gotten the same treatment btw. The majority of illegals are folks that have overstayed their Visas or are using them incorrectly.
Well, I guess I didn't read the article. But, I can speak to the info I have seen as to the current deportations. Now, if the country they came from and are being returned to is treating them badly, then I said lets critisize them....but if they are people with criminal records....then I don't care about how they are treated in their home country.

They could have been given pardons if they beat cops though
LOL!! Or pardon true murders like Biden:
  • Leonard Peltier: In January 2025, President Biden commuted the sentence of Leonard Peltier, an activist convicted in 1977 for the 1975 murder of two FBI agents.

  • Adrian Peeler: Also in January 2025, Biden granted clemency to Adrian Peeler, who was convicted of murder in the 1999 killings of a mother and her 8-year-old son in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

In addition, he commuted the sentances of 37 out of 40 federal death row inmates to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Trump wasn’t the person who targeted them ICE did.
They targeted public safety threats and criminals.
Of course all you libs think they targeted maids at the holiday Inn
No one in a Trump administration should have any credibility after his first administration.

You get that clemency/commuting, is different from actual pardons, right?

Depends, I don’t know how many were packed in. Their physical condition. Such as age, health, etc. An elderly person being strapped into a cargo plane sounds bad.
Honestly feels a bit like a dick measuring contest. Hence all of the immediate tariffs both sides.
Unless the Columbian is a woman, they've got that won.

Do you believe that Biden making a mistake and pardoning people that shouldn't have been justifies the J6ers being pardoned?

Frankly, show me receipts. If these were criminals, fine.

But trump has zero credibility on anything. None.
Please, Trump could do the most amazing things and some of you will continue to bash him. As far as this administrations promise to crackdown on those illegals with criminal records....here is one that was all over the news....but ya, their going after little old ladies. Just stop. LOL!!

Yeah, I don’t disagree with that. But these flights have been going on for years. Something about their nature drew a red flag. Colombia says didn’t like them being on military planes. Or it could have been a dick measuring contest between officials. Idk. I’m sure any lower level Latin American government that already has instability issues is touchy.
Honduras took a bunch of criminals from us in the 80’s that were MS-13 members. They over ran the country. Essentially forcing citizens to join them either as prostitutes or new soldiers. This caused a massive flood of refugees that eventually lead back to the US.
Ultimately people can laugh all they want at my opinion. But history has shown the magnate of jobs is strong enough to overcome any mass deportation plans. We’ve always needed a cheap labor pool for low skill jobs. First Africans and indentured Europeans, Then Chinese, Irish, etc etc. Now Latin Americans and Indians with the Visa skilled labor work around.

Are you kidding me??? A mistake of pardoning MURDERS?? For cripes sakes, he was told by his OWN people they were against this. And. the J6ers DID spend 4 years in jail as restitution.......and they did not murder anyone. What a terrible equation.

Did Trump not also pardon MURDERS? No cops died and nobody had paid for hitmen. You aren't being honest.

Look, we did not have a shortage of labor during Trumps first term. It simply was not there, but now we are supposed to believe that if we get rid of SOME of those who have come in illegally in the last 4 years, thee is going to be some labor crisis?

We are not deporting them all. And again, I hate that there is strife in other countries....but we cannot take care of their issues and put our own on the back burner. Now, if you go back and really look at the border numbers during Trump's last years in his first term they were good. With them finally getting the border secure......we will see even better number.

I do agree that we need to do something about the length of time it takes to become a citizen. It should NEVER take 10 years for someone who has a great shot at adding positivity to our country to get citizenship.

Please tell me what murders Trump pardoned? If he did, I would be against those as well.

That doesn't fix the false equivalency of complaining about J6ers who did 4 years of jail time getting pardons, with the pardons of murders that were given by the previous president one day prior.
